Could you have had something on your skin that might not have been washed off completely? Just throwing anything at the wall in case you might not thought of it.
It is possible, but I've been wearing shoulder length gloves. Given recent events, I've been pretty careful. Lol

Did you change food or anything re food? Thawing container etc?
Nope. I did start using new nori feeders to cut down on waste. They are drop in cages, but are 3D printed.

Maybe the filament wasn't reef safe or it had some hairspray or glue on it?

Good morning.

Yesterday, PO4 was at 0.18. Did a 40g WC, vacuumed the sump, and added fresh GFO to the reactor. There is also a bag of Phosguard in the return section of the sump.

This morning, PO4 was 0.33.

WTAF?!

I got rid of the nori clips to cut down on waste and replaced them with cage feeders. I have been witholding phyto dosing. I stopped feeding pellets in the AM and now only feed frozen.

The only thing going into the tank is Rod's food with selcon and garlic.

At this point, I'm leaning toward high PO4 being the likely culprit, but have no idea what is causing the spike(s).

Thoughts?

What about the mangrove tank? everything alive and well there?
Yup. Alive and well. No rotting / decaying plant matter. Feather dusters fully extended (and reproducing), and the cualerpa is growing.

OMG what the heck...Hmmm...just for thinking out of the box here, have you tested your new water before you add it to the tank...Maybe that is the source of additional PO4?
Hrmmm... i have been relying on my TDS readings, which are zero. I'm gonna go grab a sample and test. I'll report back shortly.

It would appear as though the problem is two-fold. This is from the fresh batch of SW that I mixed yesterday:

.11 in fresh SW? What salt are you using? TDS meter cracked? When I see something off I just go ahead and change resin/filters on the RODI.

TDS 0. Rodi testing zero copper and phos. It has to be salt batch contamination... Fritz RPM.

I have in line TDS readings at three stages of filtration. In from pre filter and Booster Pump 83, after membranes 6, after 3 stages of resin (two mixed bed, and one anion) 0.

And if that is phosphates coming in on your RODI, could be other things, too.
Scratch that, I see it's probably the Fritz. One of those unfortunate reminders to always check the salt when you get a new batch.
