I broke in the new DIY vaccuum, and it works like a charm. One caveat, though: I'm going to invest in some longer hose to connect the tube body to the canister filter. I can even mount it to one of the screws in the door. You know... if I remove the basket first.

I did a big chunk of the sand bed today, but will wait about 2 weeks before I do another chunk. Sand beds are living entities unto themselves, and I don't want to crash the tank. Hopefully this helps get the fines out of the WC. I clogged up five 50 micron filters. lol. Gonna need to order another case.

I got the Klir drop in fleece roller installed today, too. What a royal pain in the scrote. After wrestling with it for about two hours, and burning through 3/4 of a fleece roll, I think I have it humming along. We'll see how it goes.

I will not be able to fit a 2nd in my setup, though. Dems da breaks, kid.

Random updates...

While I was away on hiatus, I rerouted the plumbing from the UV sterilizer to return to the sump, instead of the DT. It now dumps in on the opposite side of the mangrove tank return line.

I also removed the Ozone reactor, in favor of direct injection into the protein skimmer. Big thanks to @Projects with Sam for hooking up the custom carbon post filter for off gassing. This frees up some space from the cramped cabinet, and makes maintenance easier. I also modified an Eshopps skim buddy with a float switch, and cut off part of the top so that it fits in the cabinet.

I added a probe to the Kalk reactor, and set an alert to let me know when the Ph drops, so that I know when my solution loses saturation.

I'm heating up water for a WC, but will try to get you guys caught up on DT changes and the issues I had while away.

Because that's the color scheme for below the tank. Blue and white. Always has been.
