It did. It was Vibrio Vulnificus, and if I hadn't gone to the hospital as fast as I did, losing only my hand would have been a positive outcome. Scary s#!&.

what did the vibrio infection come from? coral? fish? or something else? did they say

Holy C#$%..I looked it up too...also can get it from eating sushi, raw fish and swimming in waters in Florida...Glad I do not do any of those 3......

The aquarium, in general. Just about everyone's reef tank has vibrio in it. I had just added an H. Magnifica, which are known to be colonized by it, as well. That could have contributed to it, but who knows the exact vector.

I suppose a more precise answer would be "my own stupidity and carelessness". I submerged my hand in the sump, without gloves, when I had a puncture wound on my finger.

Also, since we're on the topic, here are some finger updates. Flesh eating bacteria = zero stars. Do not recommend.

ah coffee # 2....today gonna dry he bricks for the new bbq island and then build it...think I may smoke something also. Break in the new smoker for Turkey day...Got the big bradley smoker, love it. It auto feeds the wood bisquettes ever 20 minutes...
