Good Morning Heathens!
I'm looking at you @tbrown ...
testing this morning showed that NO3 is increasing slightly (good), but so is PO4 (not good). Need to get these in line before I restart bactobalance. Now, I still have some minor residual GHA, so some nutrients may be bound. Again, good for NO3 numbers, but not so much for PO4. Testing via Hanna this morning showed 2.3 and 0.17, respectively.
I'm likely going to need to start dosing NO3, but before I do that, I need to get my PO4 in check. I'm already running GFO, but am averse to LaCl3 dosing. So, I'm gonna add some more macros to the mangrove tank. Last night, I ordered some Caulerpa Prolifera. IME, it grows rapidly and sucks up a lot of phosphate. I also switched pellets to benepets reef, which some folks claim reduced PO4 instead of contributing to it. Fingers crossed.
In order to support the macro growth, I changed around the fuge lighting this morning to allow for deeper penetration under the mangrove canopy. As a bonus, this will make the recently relocated BTAs happier, as well. I put the A160s on goosenecks and angled them out and lower, and then added a 360WE that I had lying around high above the mangroves to give light above the canopy. This arrangement will also allow some increased growth for the bonsai. Pics attached.
In other news:
The nem seems to be doing okay. It even balled up slightly during the night, which I understand is a good sign. I still have my fingers crossed and the hospital tank on standby, but I think we may be out of the woods.
The Wrasstafarian has been glass surfing all morning and I have not seen Streak today, which is unusual. I'm a bit concerned. Aside from that, everyone else seems to be doing fine. Treatment will continue according to schedule.
I will be offline for the better part of today, as I'll be working on the bathroom reno, but will check in later on.
