What’s new in your reef
Some new additions (fish), aquascape changes, equipment additions and removals, coral losses, a bout with GHA and cyano, lighting changes, and a partridge in a pear tree. I'll put together a more detailed update post later on or tomorrow. Juggling a bunch of stuff at the moment (upstairs guest bathroom renovation), so my last two brain cells are fighting with each other.

Mayhaps a bit too clean. I need to invest in the low range Nitrate tester. Anyways, I'm gonna need to pump that up a bit.

I am responding because the cheesy thread title makes my eye twitch every time it bubbles to the top.

That‘s all that I wanted to say.

Carey on.
You're welcome?

While taking a break and sitting here having some coffee, I figure I'll throw in another update. This one for the lighting changes.

After switching out the Kessils for the Noopsyche K7s, I took a look at the par levels at various points in the tank over a period of 3 weeks. I took daily readings, switching locations roughly every two days.

The first week I did the bottom 1/3 of the tank, the 2nd week the middle 1/3, and the 3rd week the top 1/3. I found that, with the K7s and T5s, my par levels were way too high at the top 1/3. So, I switched off the T5s and ran just the K7s.

I played with the spectrum for a bit until I got a setting that was both asthetically pleasing and met my par needs for SPS at the top 2/3 of the tank. Here is a pic of the current placement of the par meter (use the weir as a visual guide), corresponding par reading at peak lighting intensity for that location, and the spectrum settings I am running (note that the line for whites is invisible, but runs at a peak of 25%). The fixture hovers about 8" over the surface.

Good Afternoon Team Styx,

Some Sunday updates:

Got some weeding done today, and yanked 6 RBTAs from the system. I have another 3 hanging upside down over the mangrove fuge. Stubborn f'rs won't let go and drop yet.

i'm pretty sure that's the last of them. My Sebae Clowns are ticked, but whatever- they hate me anyway. They'll be less ticked off when their new Rittieri arrives on Wednesday, though! They will, however, still hate me.

This pleases us.

Speaking of hating me, The Dainty Dictator is also displeased with this new development; but, like the clowns, she'll forget all about it once she sees the Magnifica (as I suppose they are now called). She may or may not, however, still hate me. Time will tell.

This amuses us.

Bonnie and Clyde are eating and are super active. However, despite being touted as highly social (hence procuring two of them), these two do not appear to like each other and spend their time at opposite ends of the tank.

This confuses us.

Bonnie is digging a burrow in the back right corner, and appears to know what she is doing. Clyde, on the other hand, is not making a burrow, but rather digging a trench. He appears to be fortifying the Ukrainian line at Avdiivka...

I'll try to post pics and / or videos later.

Namaste, bishes!

Just pulled this little ******* off the glass. Coral predator! Where there's one, there's more. Looks like I'll be ordering a Harlequin Shrimp...

...and another one. Now, this one looks more like a regular Asterina, and not like one of the coral munchers. Le sigh. This one was in the mangrove fuge. Thoughts anyone?

If memory serves, harlequins don't eat brittle and serpent stars, which is good as I have 4 very large brittle stars. They do, however, eat pretty much any other star they come across. I'll need to figure out what to do with my Linkia <insert sad face here>. I'll also need to get about 4 or 5 chocolate chips to keep in the sump for when the harlequin runs out of food.
