I'm currently about halfway through A Storm Of Swords making my way through the series for the first time. I'm going audiobook format because it allows me to listen while I exercise, work in the yard, etc. I've read The Silmarillion and LOTR books many times, and finally am branching out. Is the Witcher series next after the Song Of Ice And Fire series?
Also, I'm not terribly familiar with that universe, but I have heard a lot of controversy around how the show was made versus the books, and also Henry's disapproval with the whole series considering he was a fan of the stories before he was even hired to play the role. Your thoughts on the show versus the books? I watched the first season or two of the show then it just became a little eh and I stopped.

I am a huge fan of magic and all things fantasy! So many great stories, and so many great characters! Let's see if you're a fan too! I think given that it was a live production in TV episode format, they did it justice & did the best they could do while trying to appeal to as broad of an audience as possible. People are always quick to be critical these days without considering the whole circumstance in my opinion. The one thing that I will be critical on is the casting of Triss; they totally whiffed on that one. I also don't think Netflix ever intended to retell the whole story verbatim, more just hit the highlights while loosely telling the tale. The books are hands down better than the show though. No spoilers, but I was pretty close to talking my wife into naming our son "Emiel" lol.
I'm with you on the audiobook format, all my "books" are in Audible. If you like Witcher, LOTR, & stuff, check out "Under a Northern Sky" series & "Empire of the Wolf" series.
Just made notes of your recommendations to check out one day!
And yeah, I hear ya about the balancing of source material and appealing to a wider audience. As far as the Rings Of Power show though, that's gonna be a no for me, dog. The Tolkien universe is my favorite story of all time, and I simply just don't have interest in watching anymore of that show. I think there's a large community of people around famous fantasy stories that enjoy complaining more about the show than actually watching the show. I simply just didn't really like it, so I move on to something else. Although, I must admit that I'm pretty excited to check out the animated movie coming out about the Rohirrim. The story of Helm Hammerhand is awesome, and the guy in charge of the show seems to have his head in the right space while making it, based off interviews and his record.

They're on Netflix right now and I recently rewatched the original, then the newest one. The newest one is an awesome movie. It spends the first half telling you why it was made and what's going to happen, then it just does that haha! I think that lie where the guy tells Neo "the studio said they were going to make it with or without you, so you might as well be a part of it" was the exact conversation had the Lana haha

Nooooo!!! Tck is like Crack too me...now I need to hide more coral!! Cody..my neighbors put a fence on my property at a strange angle. They took a triangle from 8' about 40' long so you geometry wizards can figure that out. I simple told them and when they didn't want to move it I said ok them I'm taking 8' of your front yard (better value to me as the back is wooded) and landscaped it into mine with 7 yards of loam, rock wall and tons of plants. They didn't know what to say at that point lol. If I move or they move I'll pay to have town rewrite the lines or they can pay to move a fence at 5000. Sometimes it just works out the way it's supposed too
So update. Looks like he installed a camera as well that points at my windows on that side of the house. I put one over there too but made sure to aim it at the street/my house so that I'm not shooting at his windows. Also, he moved his stupid potted plants back over the property line. Looks like I'm putting up the cheesy gardening fences along the line so he can't access his back yard with the potted plant in the way, and will have to move it. It's getting exciting!Nooooo!!!
