My lid is a DIY kit from BRS with some additional 3D printer parts. Cleaning it is pretty easy. My tank has a center brace so the lid is in two halves. I take the two pieces out on the patio, and rinse it with the garden hose (maybe 2 min ) and then stand them against a chair until they air dry. Place back on the tank.TANK TALK: For those of you that have a lid already that's not from Top Lids, how easy or challenging is it for you to keep your lid looking clean and pristine to match the rest of your tank? This tank is being setup as a QT tank. It needs something different as a lid because I need to put different lights on it. You can see the salt buildup. I do not know the model/brand of the tank. The person who gave me the tank told me it is 40g but it seems too tall.TANK TALK: Do you have a tank in desperate need of a lid? Well if I won I would want to redo my main reefs lid. It's pretty rusty and crusty. But my 12 gallon Mr aqua bookshelf doesn't have a lid. And is home to our Valentini pufferTANK TALK: Do you have a tank in desperate need of a lid? Comment with the model name and a picture of your tank for your entry today!

The lid os standard for IM tanks, but doesn't have a dedicated feed hole or anywhere convenient to place an autofeeder. I got a 3d printed platform that works for the autofeeder, and it drops pellets through the screen. However, I use rehydrated food (mysis, calanus) and hatched baby brine shrimp as manual feeds, and it gunks up the screen with salt or stuck food particles. A feeder hole in front of the gyre would be ideal.TANK TALK: For those of you who already have a lid...how easy or challenging is it to feed your fish or do maintenance on your tank? Slow down- I struggle with going too fast at work and life and my tank forces me to slow down. I’m working on it !!!TANK TALK: Share a lesson you've learned from your reef tank that applies to life outside the aquarium. It could be patience, resilience, or the importance of balance. You can research and have all this knowledge but it’s not always going to count. Sometimes just like life our tank has thrown some curveballs our way. Whether it be unexpected fish aggression or a coral just not liking your setup or even equipment failure. Teaches you to be as prepared as possible.TANK TALK: Share a lesson you've learned from your reef tank that applies to life outside the aquarium. It’s a pain to lift the lid which tweaks the frame every time or if I need something I have to take the lid off move it to the floor start doing what ever I needed to do, stop tell the 2 year old to stop touching the lid re start doing stop take the lid from the kid restart doing whatever I was trying to do and realize I forgot what I was doing put lid back on hahaTANK TALK: For those of you who already have a lid...how easy or challenging is it to feed your fish or do maintenance on your tank? Well, it’s a challenge. For feeding, I have to lift one of the glass panes up via the double sided tape handle, toss them their food and gently add back making sure it’s still balanced on the rim lol. Maintenance, that’s another ballgame. To readd my water I scootch the lid over to create a small enough gap to gently pour the water into, because the fish are skittish jumpers. I have to move this pane back after each jug to ensure they don’t floor surf. It ya very cumbersome, since the fibro affects the nerves in my hands and I’m starting to develop RA.TANK TALK: For those of you who already have a lid...how easy or challenging is it to feed your fish or do maintenance on your tank? It's just a small acrylic sheet so it's pretty easy to just slide it over a bit.TANK TALK: For those of you who already have a lid...how easy or challenging is it to feed your fish or do maintenance on your tank? Take your time and don’t rush through things. Step gently, and lightly. It makes you seem more elegant lol.TANK TALK: Share a lesson you've learned from your reef tank that applies to life outside the aquarium.
