TANK TALK: What's the most valuable piece of advice you've received from a fellow reef enthusiast? Share the wisdom that has made a significant impact on your tank-keeping skills.
Dirty the tank. Before you get corals and everything. Wards off uglies and dinos.

Coral really can handle high nutrients.

Using gfo to crash my nutrients early on and causing a dino outbreak that killed majority of my coral and coralline algae. This is 8 months recovery

TANK TALK: Who has ever experienced massive tank water loss or humidity in their house from tank evaporation?
I have not. In the summer I have to put more RODI in the ATO for the weekend because the water level drops all the way to the pump if I don't.

When I first started I dosed ammonia that was not made for fish keeping and it had soap in it as well so had to large change of water and run carbon.

When I setup my 190.5 I was having to manually add 2 gallons of top off water a day luckily I have the ATO on and setup now so glad thats over haha

ATO is the biggest crutch for technical stuff

Repeat of previous tank talk topic. Still my favorite: liquid food dosing.

Official entry. @Top_Lids I so really need a lid. Just bought my first timeless tank and am clueless as to configuring it. Which is partly why it is hanging out in its crate in my garage! Help me get it in my house

I have. Seems I am always adding water to top off my tanks. But it's ok. I have oak furniture and its never looked better. Also helps with dry skin.

I've made a lot of little things, frag racks, stands and whatnot. But the best diy upgrade is this cabinet.

TANK TALK: Have you ever rescued a fish that had jumped by getting them back into the tank before it was too late?
I know this was yesterdays, but have to share. My male clown a few years ago. Just a baby then really. Was feeding and went to rinse off my algae feeder. When I returned I learned a valuable lesson. They get excited at feeding time and can jump very quickly. He was on the carpet looking so sad. Scooped him up and he is still with us.

I built my entire tank. And my sump I'm really proud of it. I also replaced a cheap skimmer pump with a reef octopus one that fit with a little diy

I also built an algae frag plug to get algae floating in the display fuge

Do not make any changes based on a test result. Test again tomorrow and make any needed dosing changes.
