I have had the monster Luxo for a little over 2 years, I got her and a male at the same time in a 13.5 gallon tank. Around august that year, Luxo decided she didn’t like that clown and killed it.
The new one, sharkbait, was added summer last year, and they immediately bonded and have been doing well together since.
My recommendation is to get two of the same or similar breeds and one significantly smaller than the other to maximize chances of success.
Thanks for the info!

Happy to say that the wasp is already eating. I grabbed some pods from the dt and tossed them in, once they got close enough to the wasp he readily ate them. I’ll probably try some ghost shrimp and frozen mysis soon - but nice to know that he’ll accept the buffet in the dt.

Luxo on the top, sharkbait on the bottom

The angel making laps around the nem just to annoy Luxo. This fish needs to learn boundaries soon, or her fins will continue to take more punishment. I’m hoping they can figure it out - I might add more rock to add more territories.

Blenny minds his own business - gets along with everyone (except when he gets too close to the goby’s burrow).

And I’d be lucky if the goby comes out for me to get a picture…

One major benefit to the angel is how much it poops - when you’re dealing with low nitrates I’ll take anything I can get.

do your clowns sleep together?
Sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t. Originally the male had his own nem, but Luxo doesn’t like the concept of private property. They bounce around between the 2 nems - alone or together - but as of recent they’ve both been in the big nem at night together.

I was just curious. Mine have been "divorced" ever since I got them. She normally sleeps in one of the leathers and he sleeps up in the top corner by the powerhead cord. My husband was commenting on it the other day, that he feels bad for the guy. I just want to know what he did. It had to be something...... :winking-face-with-tongue:

As far as I’m concerned, it’s a win if one doesn’t kill the other…

Wasp took some frozen mysis today - frankly I’m surprised how easy he’s been to feed.
Local petsmart was out of ghost shrimp (and still no neon tetras), so I’ll have to wait to see how he’ll react to that.

Last Tuesday, I added 10 pounds of rock to the tank, and did some rescaping. The new structure both adds some more room for my corals and also adds to the natural reef aesthetic.

In other news, the coral situation is worsening. The anacropora is dead, and the birdsnest doesn’t have much life left either. I ordered an ICP test with the hopes that it can reveal something that I’m not detecting in my water tests, but at this point I’m grasping for solutions.

As of today, most of the corals are actually looking pretty good. Frankly, I’m not sure what changed but I won’t question it.
Fish are all behaving, and the angel-clown feud has calmed down a bit.
The wasp is still doing well in qt - I’m just waiting until I can get him eating whatever is on the ends of the tongs before moving him over.

Well it’s a back and forth between the corals doing well or not. My money’s on alk swings or low alkalinity at the moment, since the ICP test showed less-than ideal alk.
During a water change, I lifted a rock and accidentally ripped a BTA in half. It seems like one half will be fine, but the other is in questionable condition….
The waspfish is still in his own quarantine tank. The goal is to get him eating comfortably before he enters the tank, so that the fish don’t keep him from accessing food. Currently his favorite meals seem to be ghost shrimp.
Finally, we’ve got the next addition to the Sharkbait family! Meet Gurgle, the royal gramma!

This one’s significantly bigger than my last, so should hopefully not be a target for Luxo.

Still working on getting the rooster to take anything but live ghost shrimp. He picks at frozen foods but I can see the “you expect me to eat this” look on his face.
In the meantime, he hunts down ghosts like he hasn’t eaten in weeks. Here’s a shot of him having a standoff with one (if you can even make it out - it’s just to his left):
