I just ran out of Reef Primer after my last coral purchase and then bought straight food grade KCL to try next.

I just ran out of Reef Primer after my last coral purchase and then bought straight food grade KCL to try next.

I just ran out yesterday. Did a water change and used the water to do a dip and for rinse afterwards. Reef Primer is pretty pricey, don't know why I didn't join the cool kids and just buy bulk from Amazon.

ReefPrimer has a higher dosage than what people recommend for KCL. I've been preparing as this will be my first time using the bulk KCL and I've read 2x TBSP per gallon seems to be the norm.

Reef Primer instructions say "maximum of 5-minutes" and the straight KCL looks to be a little longer at 7-10 minutes. Maybe that's because the Reef Primer concentration is stronger, I don't know. But you may want to leave it in the bulk stuff longer than 5 minutes.

can confirm need to leave it in longer than 5 min for KCL. I used to do the same 5 min i would do for reef primer and it's not the same strength... need to go at least 10 min with the KCL at 2 tbsp/ gal

yes- through algaebarn. They come tiny but did work on aptasia for me.

Peppermint shrimp have always been more trouble than they are worth to me. Hit or (mostly) miss with aiptasia and tend to annoy your corals and clams as the try to steal food from them.

I haven't tried nudis yet as I have a few wrasses that would eat them and have had to go manual Kalk injections to eradicate with extreme prejudice those little jerks.
