Has he figured out the heat issue with the drivers? Or is that still an issue that the recommended solution is to not mount them to a wood surface?
As far as I know, he has not. I hang them dangling and not flushed against the wall or any surface. This allows for optimum aiir circulation. Can also ran a small computer fan to keep it cool. He's working on the dimmable version. Hopeful ready mid/late summer

You better not sell those Vipar 300w before offering them up in here, bet you could auction them for a pretty penny between the few of us
Picked them up after reading Billy's rave reviews and they were cheap and local. Hadn't thought about swapping them in for the radions until this thread but not sure if that would be too much change for the corals now.

No plans to part with them yet.

Those are 165s and the newer ones adjustments are 10% Increments instead on 1%. Refurbished 165s still do 1% I think

That's the 165w version. The 300w that Billy pictured isn't made anymore.

Question:
I had a mari milli, that had an insane PE, over 4 months it showed a fair amount of growth:

I was able to frag 6 or 7 pieces off, about 3x. It was ever so slowly STN base up all while having epic PE and growing Vertically up until i fragged the entire thing.

I cut it down as the RTN was approaching the branches. Upon clipping it, ALL of the frags have just gone dormant. No PE. They are still slowly stacking growth at the tip, but not much for base. Most of the frags were significantly shaded, now theyre all green. No visibile pests. They look poor enough to be tossed:

Thoughts? Dip them? Leave them? Its been about 3-4 weeks since the haircut. The base of the colony is almost all reskinned but no PE throughout a variety of heights and flow in my tank.

Theyre legit dormant. Nothing is happening. Not dieing, not growing, def no tissue necrosis. But they look bad. I can confidently say the tips have continued to "slightly" grow, but not like the growth I had, nor the rest of my system.

Whats bizzare is they were full PE up until the day i chopped it. I think it was a $75 colony and I was able to trade out frags to cover cost - but i thought it was a neat piece and with all of the luck early on I had no intention of chopping it but couldnt get the STN to stop. My expectations were low from the rip.
