Yeah..you win in basically every category...love the Stratons and icons. Can't beat a panel led with any of these small source light leds as far as spread/coverage/shadowing
I’ve been testing out the pro to see if I want it for my DT… it’s next level. The way the individual reflectors are built, less light spills out. The design is beautiful. On the pic you can see a straton on the far right. Both at the same morning temp. That said I still think im leaning towards 2 stratons vs 1 pro.

Problem with the vipars is I would never run more than 1 or 2% of the white channel because it's gross. Maybe when I add mesos to the tank I can use the white channel. Right now 50% of the light isn't even used so that par is useless

Do you mean in general you don't like whites or that the whites on vipars don't blend well?

therin lies the rub. The resale will be there for a bit on the pro & there are ways to make it cheaper… 10% ain’t nothing at that price. Stratons are selling pound for pound cheaper than a xr30 and are better.

Reefi compares these to the Radion XR30. Do they really have the same coverage?

Regarding PAR output the Reefi is a 270 watt fixture and the Radion XR30 is 215 watts so the expectation is that they would put out more PAR. Is that accurate as well?

I have been contemplating adding a supplemental bar like the Quanta for more coverage. I wonder if the Reefi would be a better option.

I have a couple of the Vipar 300w but cannot figure out how to mount them in the canopy.

The 300 vipars are no good...just ship them to me and let me know the shipping costs. The reefi have more leds also. Personally..ypu could.probably sell the xr30s and replace with reefi with left over money to get quanta leds...maybe

I'm leaning toward Reefi. Just need to sell two nexus burst nems and I'm off to the races.

If you want to take a ride up to Memphis you can have them for frags :)

I like the Radions for the small size, ease of mounting, controllability and established programming. I am getting decent PAR readings with them (350 at 6" below the surface and 200 on the sand bed 24" down @ 73% of schedule) and I like the color of the tank. Just optimistically thinking about when the corals grow out and I need to overcome eventual shading.

Are the Quantas that good? Would adding those be a better option than say adding the Reefis or Kessil a360x to the mix?

I'm very happy with my Quanta. Both my 65 and 180 have Quantas

Shading will always be a problem with leds and no bars...even with bars there's some. Panel leds shade less simply because of the spacing of the source leds. Radions are tried and true lights...nothing wrong with them other than price. I look at it like...for the price of one xr 30 you could get 2 reefis...so it's not even close for how far the money goes in different areas

Thia is what I am working with. The radions are centered to the 30" depth of the tank. The stand has an 8" hinged lid that you can see in the photo. Was thinking about eather adding lights between the radions or mounting an LED bar to the support beam just in front of them. What do you think would be best?

As they say, if I had known then what I know now...

Since I already have them I will just add on as needed. Do you think bars are the better option?

You better not sell those Vipar 300w before offering them up in here, bet you could auction them for a pretty penny between the few of us
