You must never have had a naso. Blue hippo is a beautiful fish and great for guests to see dory but ive legit lost some decent stuff from nipping, most recently a button scoly whithering away
I've had Blue Hippos in the past but never one that eats corals. I think you got unlucky with that one. I've also never had a scoly.

Random Question... you guys ever have a porcupine puffer? A tank I'm looking at is great but comes with one, not sure how reef safe they can be

Many reasons not to have one.

1. They are not reef safe in that they will eat all of your clean up crew.

2. They are incredibly messy eaters and without a clean up crew this will play havoc with nitrates and phosphates.

3. They grow WAY too large to keep in any tank short of an 8 foot 300+ and even then that is pushing it (fish in captivity will grow to 15+ inches in length and at least that much in girth).

4. IME they are ich magnets.

All that said, early in my fish keeping past we did keep one in a FOWLR 180 gallon (72x24x24) for 2 years. It grew to 10 inches in length before we had to rehome him to a larger system. Lots of personality, cute when they are small with those big eyes but just not a great choice for a home system. YMMV in a fish only system for a short time if it is large enough.

Yeah I mean you can see the size of my purple tang and neither him nor dory have ever nipped. Maybe I’m lucky? But I mean hell I also have a blue jaw trigger and he couldn’t be bothered by coral in the tank

Yeah im not sure, i have heard hippos can be terrible citizens and mine absolutely nips sps and lps while looking me in the eye. I have a white tail bristle tooth, beastly gold rim, and purple. The purple has killed many a newcomer. Vicious little guy, the gold rim finally humbled him when he got settled in.

Whats cool about the naso is they also snack on bubble algae, hands down the only successful natural remedy that I have found. Their personality and beauty is just icing on the cake.

Only downside is since i have a 125 i have to trade the bigger breeds in after 18 months or so I never get too attached.

Torches are starting to open. All the sticks look happy except the freebie berry short cake, which came with a bleached branch, looks like it was getting rubbed by another coral. Its a huge piece for a freebie so im not the least upset about it lol.
