Snagged some frags from a local reefer who has to move, was kind of a wild experience chopping some stuff with some real age to it. Hopefully it doesnt decide to chuck tissue. Some of it was shaded or just battling against other stuff. Wild tank, really cool reefer to connect with to boot.

Few frags of WWC Candle Stick
Booger of homewrecker
Few bits of remaining flesh from a WD colony.

And a show tank for the next frag swap.

All in less than $1k.

Going to have to start mounting to the back glass, its a full house. Added a 4th mp40 in the mix as well.

Just to confirm my understanding, this tank is running on tap water?

Yes

I do have a 2 stage home filter system - sediment filter + carbon tank
But no additional water filtration

I also have done a water change in at lease 3 years. And over the course of 10 years I would say 3-5 small water changes

Absolutely wild.

Its fascinating how high tech and obsessive people can be and kill coral the moment it touches their tank, then someone like you strolls along with some serious heat in the tank, lightly filtered tap water, and minimal maintenance.

Id ask how much your parameters bounce around but i have to assume you dont even test em to know (lighthearted jab at your apparent success with your method)

One of the craziest hobbies.

I use all for reef but the amount I depends on my evaporation

I’m not supper happy with my alk stability so I am buying a khguardian and will have alk measured 4x a day and auto dosed. Then I will just need to focus on calcium

Around March I added several fish. I was doing fine with low nitrate but I felt I was walking a thin line and I should increase nitrate naturally. Added coris wrasse, tomini tang, two anthias, which increases tank feeding and then increases nitrates. Now I’m comfortable with those levels and have a little wiggle room

Some of these fluctuations were user error. The .34 was when I spilled a bunch of reef roids accidentally. Some of the alk or ca drops were when I was late or missed a AFR dose

Not all my tests are logged. If everything is normal I skip logging sometimes

I have the ghl kh director, i measure once per day at most just to keep the pH probe wet otherwise id do every other day.

I dose half my dkh per day with AFR the ither half with kalk, but i do do water changes.

Remember with AFR it can take up to a day for the calcium formate to process. So even if you test 4x per day, your first correction dose wont really be measurable till yoir 3rd test at best.

I would recommend sodium carbonate for correction doses otherwise and let the AFR do the heavy lifting for the rest/maintenance.

Another note from your graphs, it looks like you were really low on po4 and nitrate before the new year and saw alk climb up, and then when they elevated alk has been trending downward. Definitely some confluence that the tank wanted that extra food.
