I just tell them I'm a marine biologist and studying coral. They always get excited about it and want to show people.

exept the 240 we dont keep sps the po4 is high in there we will add gfo today to bring it down

Works every time. They wiped the bags down with some kinda swab and handed them right back to me after looking at them with wonder when I say they're alive.

For anyone that needs to know the TSA coral process:

Have your coral in hand as well as policy! They are not all trained yet .

Let's them know you have a special item and what it is...coral.

If asked to throw out water present policy and ask for supervisor.

Present item and policy to supervisor.

Supervisor will waft a strip over water....not in water and test. They will Take a picture and send you on your way.
