@steveschuerger . Happy birthday my friend. Best wishes

Thanks everyone! Looks to be a relax and chill out day. Did the morning tank routine and a few other things. Got a couple “honey do” things. Yes even b-day isn’t exempt lol. Then rest of day is mine.

How much was yours. Did you get at tck. I would love one, but I'm not going on bidding war for it . Plus. I'm getting this 2"+ magic carpet tomorrow

When I talked with Ben at BSA about the rainbow alveopora, it was a few months ago and he said he normally sells them for $400. I was approaching whale status and he likes making bundles and I gave him a whale referral, so he offered to include in my bundle for almost half off.

Dont have any fancy apex but my ph stays about the same 8.2-8.5 ,thanks to kalkwasser..... At some point I should get a Hydros or possibly a Apex to get some long-term data as I onlybhave a ph monitor. Everything else is manual... should stop buying corals and get one...

I don't like the apex ph monitor. I quit using my apex bc it just alerts me that my ph is low although I've calibrated it and everything although it is not low.

You can get alkalinity monitor + auto alkalinity dosing, with temp, ph, and orp monitoring for $450

All those other systems require multiple components and will add up to over $1000. If you just want the things I mentioned above you can save a lot and get the KH Guardian

AquaWiz is imo the best kh tool...plus no reagents

RHF seems to disagree on that

Plus we have very limited reviews. I think two forum members have it, and one of them is the products rep and the other is brand new

The weakness of it is a very strong reliability on ph probe calibration. It’s a very unique product for sure and could work great, it’s just hard to find any actual data on it

I have traditional ramp up and down to 100% for most of the day then use them for evening viewing and then moonlight.

I use a GHL mini which is a pretty dang good value but not the cheapest option either. Its nice because you can get some remote monitoring (pH and temp), 1-10v control (seasonal, moon phase, cloud coverage, etc) lighting control, plus all the GHL expandability at a good price.

I personally only use moon but theres more functionality than mobius.
Gotcha… gonna go with budget option for now and do kasa WiFi switch with automatic on and off. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

My favorite coral in the tank so far

I absolutely love this torch. It looks kinda like a New York knicks torch. It does have a green mouth hints of gold and the blue tips. But sold to me from lfs just as a ‘torch’ it’s pretty happy where the hellfire behind is always complaining about something.

I don't really care for controllers but I do love lights. I've been eyeing the new Orpheks. Didn't you win one @robanister? Do you like it?
I love my Orphek, even my wife who doesn’t care much about my tank talks about how good it looks.

I went with natura and a couple OR4 bars to add some additional coverage along the edges.

Par wise these things can absolutely pump it out. Mine sit 16 inches above surface and I run 500-600 par at surface at 100% (which I don’t run nearly that high)

Right now surface sits at 450-500 and sand bed is 200+. Overhangs/caves are 50-150 depending on how it sits

I have the reef breeders photon 48"x2 over the 450 and additional led bars. I need to test the par something awful in that tank, but I'm looking to setup a new tank and thinking of switching my AI Primes to the Orpheks. I love the RB's, but they've been difficult to get them where they need to be without bleaching. I really like the look of the Orpheks.

Nice!!!! I can’t wait to see these helix’s in action. I was torn between the or4 and helix but what solid me on the helix was no mess no muss no fuss. Just on and off dimmable light that’s supposed to be bullet proof with latest tech. I can hang a hat on that but the or4 having the tech with it already like moonlight etc was tempting.

I have 12 fish in total. Most are semi aggressive. I’ve wondered if doing more fish would be too much in the tank, all my fish stay 6” and under. Well. The tangs could be bigger but still.

Fish have been what was missing in my 450. I bought my blue face koi named "Gene" who came already 4-5" big, he really made the tank look its size if that makes sense. The tank really looked empty before he came along. I added a yellow mimic tang and some other fish that have helped it look more alive as well. Now it just needs a few more fish and a LOT more coral. Looks like you need coral as well.
