Amazing pictures thanks for sharing. And happy we have our little community going. We all love corals and was happy to send you some stuff to replace and try with the tank procedures!!!!! May you grow them well and enjoy them for a long time to comeA few words about customer service.
A few months ago I contacted SBB via PM because I was having trouble with my corals. Several of my SBB coral were dying and it was a month or so after I got them. I couldn’t figure out why. Some of you may already be aware of this, but Shane has said it’s okay to share this with everybody now. My parameters seemed to be fine, so Shane wanted to focus primarily on my water and my acclimation process. I use a seven stage BRS RO/DI system. We changed out all filters and both membrane along with a 50 gallon flush to make sure everything was now clean with no preservatives. With that done, over a month I did a 50% water change (90 gallons for 180 gallon tank). For the acclimation, I had been using Coral RX. There was concern I may be burning the frags in acclimation, so we switched to potassium chloride for my dipping. One other thing I’ve been looking at is CO2 regulation to keep my PH more stable in the 8.0-8.3 range.
Shane said he was going to send me some “practice” corals once I got everything we discussed done. Well, I just got my practice corals this morning. OMG! I expected a few small frags, but the pictures below are the corals after being in my tank for 2 hours. Needless to say, I was speechless. If anybody ever doubted where the best customer service is in the industry, doubt no more. This is over the top service to help a customer. I cannot take Shane and SBB enough for their efforts to help me with my tank. It is more than I ever could have ask for. Thank you Shane.
Here are my “Practice” corals. Polyp extension started within 30 minutes of going in the tank. Wow!Now I’ve got to make sure I keep them happy.
5 or 6 hrs up the 5 from you.Oh wow, already!!! I’ve never heard of Manteca, must be inland.
I looked it up. I have been to Tracy, CA before.5 or 6 hrs up the 5 from you.
BKchem fruit loops from SBB almost killed this one the tips and the encrusting base is all that survived, so I cut out most of the dead the dead and made frags of the tips, and they are all doing well now. In different tanks so they look a little different.
They are hard to find and when you do they are sold at a premium.I like! Wish I had mine from SBB still. They are actually pretty hardy Tenuis.
Oh ok thats right next to Manteca. Lol i wasn’t sure if you were going to catch that or not. It’s definitely a socal thing.I looked it up. I have been to Tracy, CA before.
I’ve heard that most of the county doesn’t refer to freeways using “the” like we do.
8.93?Trying new senseye. Says ph is 8.93.
I was just behind the starfish!
Manual dosing? What’s your mixture ratio?First diy alk solution. Trying sodium bicarbonate and will make it sodium carbonate if I need to.
That's what I said think I'm at 8.7 in reality. End of day highest ph.8.93?
Ive never met you but for some reason i thought you were taller. Black on black on black, classic.I was just behind the starfish!
Not something I have to worry about because my ph is always low, but where does high PH become an issue? I’ve heard 8.3 is the sweet spot, 7.8-8.6 being the acceptable range. What happens when your Ph gets up to 9 or something? That's what I said think I'm at 8.7 in reality. End of day highest ph.
