Sanctithomae Keepers!

Ive done my research on the Sanctithomae (St. Thomas) ric, but nothing compares to real world keepers experiences.
What kind of life expectancy do they have, and or how long youve had yours?
Are they agressive? Can they be side by side with Florida Ricordeas?
Are they easy to care for or are they finiky like yuma?

I've had good luck with them. I have a blue and a greenish one on the sandbed. I had the blue one for 1 year and the green 6 months. Florida's are a tad bit more aggressive than the St. thomas but i just keep them separated. They have cetain qualities of a yuma, like when stressed out they spill out their guts or they just take a long time to recover once stressed.

I have a red and a blue St thomas I've had them about 6 months... I love them they don't move around they readily eat when offered food and turn themselves inside out to eat ( looks cool when they do that) so far they have not harmed anything these are just to easy to take care of. I keep them under T-5 lighting. Very nice coral for the beginner or intermediate reefer.

I have 4 that have done very well since Sept 07. Very easy to keep and they prefer to attach to a firm substrate. They don't tend to wander to much either.

I have lost a couple and I believe it was because I set them directly on the sandbed with insufficient flow.

My 4 open to about 3".

I got one just before Christmas I now have 2. It looks like it is about to give me #3.

I will go into more detail the one I have is on a little rock about 3" X 1". it moves back and forth along its rock dropping little pieces of it's foot. Each time it drops a little piece it truns into a baby. These pieces are like about 1/2 inch.

how do they differ from other rics?

I have 2 different types and they seem to like less light and flow then floridas and they are very fragile. Their tissue is paper thin, too much flow can injure them. They eat different as well, they completely wrap up around the food and close up where as rics scoot it over to the mouth.

Here is my friend's from his shop. He's had it since I've known him, about 1.5 years now:

Triton, I think I've seen that same type on a website before. IIRC, it was pretty inexpensive as well. They didn't call it a St. Thomas though. For the life of me I cannot remember the site though! They sell a lot of inverts and soft corals, offer 2-3 day shipping on most.

We bought our's from cherrycorals. I guess they were stoney's. I have seen them on other sites labeled as Rhodacisas well.
