i've started thinking about swapping my current 125 for the one i just picked up this last weekend. my reasoning is that the glass is pretty scratched on the running one and the new one is in near pristine condition, but the thought of transferriung everything and redoing the plumbing is daunting, however, the new stand would give me a lot more room underneath it. has anyone transferred a tank this large?
Have I? No. But I will just say clear a weekend, get several totes, just go for it. You'll be happy when your done rather than debating all the time.

You should do it. I remember when I upgraded my 125 to the 180 I order from Planet. I transfered my corals/rock into my 55g and tubs with lights. Hubby did all the plumbing. It took some time since he's only able to do it a little at a time with his regular job. Just have a plan,

nah, you have a really good point, plus i feel like i am going to be happier in the long-run with more access to my sump, etc., underneath the stand

@billyocean do you have a frag of twister metal?

I have one that has gone all green with very dark polyps. It was originally purplish but went through a rough spell in February. It has since encrusted the plug and shown a lot of growth.
Here's some that I had to zoom in on

I moved from my 75 to the 125. I had enough room though so I set up the 125, let it run a few weeks and then moved the rock over slowly.bbit took me maybe 2 months to move the rock, corals, and fish.

oh ok, right on. my only problem is that i absolutely do not have the space to run both tanks at the same time, if i were to swap them the new one will have to go exactly where the current one is sitting, so switching them entirely in one go is kind of daunting now that i think about it, seems like there is a lot of potential to crash the cycle

holy run-on sentence, batman

People do it frequently. Get lots of totes and buckets. As many heaters and circulation pumps as necessary, etc etc etc. Expect to have some losses and be happy when there's none!
