I run them also. I think they need a few more UV for pop. A few less white, and I've been reading about lime green LEDs helping a lot with coloration. Balance everything out because those whites zap everything.

If I had an extra box I take the time to try to mod one with different LEDs.
once i get more experience and knowledge in my toolbox i will look into upgrading to kessils, im straight addicted to the shimmer!

If I was running something at 600-800 par I would have something that ramps..but the max I run is about 450 at the top..its more like 400+ with a couple higher spots and the rest is in 325-400

So you all run more blue
I don't, I run 80/20. With 20% whites. I had read awhile on the lighting forums from Dana that that is the best spectrum generally speaking across lights, doesn't matter which brand. Of course there is some tweaking based on the amount of LEDs of each color, pucks etc, but that is the general blend spectrum. So I have blues, violets and greens at 80, whites 20, and reds at 5.

Hypothetically, what if you did? Would your tank literally take off? What if you are cutting yourself short on your already amazing tank?
Maybe.
I tried a skimmer..it just removed too much in my case. I have no problems with keeping up with calcium with red sea calcium. My philosophy is Keep it simple stupid and go from there. If I need to add something in the future I will. I wonder though how many people have ran a skimmer from the start and now they can't take it off. Where as to if they didn't they might not have ever needed it. I have a reef octo 2000 external bad A skimmer..but I've never needed to hook it up.

I definitely don't have the nicest tank by any stretch but my program works for now. Of course we all evolve our approach as time goes on so I never say never

that's what i am doing as well, i learned with my freshwater tanks that the more i meddle with them and the more gadgets i throw in the more issues i deal with at the end of the day. KISS with the salt tanks is doing really well for me thus far, my only issues have occurred from user-error (so far)

I can attest to the user error so many times. I try to keep it as simple as I can.

More equipment means more things can go wrong IMO. Sometimes very quickly. I'd rather have slow and steady growth compared to fast but balancing on the edge of 15 pieces of equipment when one breaks it crashes.
