Wow very nice and clean what the plan for livestock?

Thanks. I have two clowns and a yellow watchman goby that will be moving into. I have a few ideas for other fish but haven't made my mind up yet. For corals more than likely mixed but highly considering sps dominant.

Cannot wait to see the tank! I am debating on getting a custom cube via Reef Savvy. Currently planning on moving from the netherlands to Florida this year. So researching all options and considering this a cube I am looking forward to see the end result!

Living reef Orlando has 24x24x20 I think on stock reef savy tank

I don't know what the specs are on their tanks. The tank I ordered is 24x24x20 with blacked out rear glass, 3 sides low iron glass, phatom bottom, and ghost overflow with a single 3/4" return drilled in the back glass. Anyway... here's an update to what I've managed to get done with the electronics cabinet. Still have a few things to do, but so far I have the top installed and drilled, the drawer rails and caster wheels installed, the right side "skirt" installed. I need to go back and counter sink the screws in the top and fill in the nail holes, veneer over that. Also I need to caulk the inside under the top because this will also be used as a drip plate. Here's a few pics of the progress.

I plan to recess the equipment board with 1.5" max depth behind it and drill it out to pass the cables through. I'm also going to use a 1/4" piece of plywood on the very back with magnetic catches and some shoe moulding to attach it and make for easy access to the cables. I haven't decided for sure, but I'm considering mounting the display module either on the outside of the drawer face plate or recessed into it. I'm not 100% sure if I want to do either yet, but I am considering it.

Oh WOW. I love the concept! I really enjoy the time you're taking to get this all done right before you throw corals and fish and everything else into the mix, your patience will pay off 100 fold.

Thanks. I hope so. I'm coming up a little short on space for expanding the Apex but hopefully they wont release any new "gotta have" toys any time soon. I did get the board cut and installed today, but I still need to lay the modules out and play around with placement. There is 1 1/4" space behind it for wires. I'll cut another piece of plywood that will fiy over the back of the box and all the other as I have time.

Got a little bit more done on the stand today. I still need to veneer the drawer face and the skirt on the other side. Two reasons I've decided to veneer over it - I decided it was much more sturdy screwing the screws into the drawer box rather than using L brackets to attach the face plate on the slide out cabinet side. So I countersunk the screws and filled them in with wood putty. The veneer will help hide this. Also I wanted to try and match the grain pattern with the rest of the stand. I have a whole 2x3 sheet left and several large pieces of scrap I can use for this. Also I still need to drill the holes for the cables to pass through, but I'll do that once I've decided on the best arrangement for the electronics. The space is small so I would like to maximize the space for any possible expansion without sacrificing too much with cable management. Once I have all the wet equipment purchased I'll figure out the way to route the cables between the cabinets and so forth. Until then I'm only concentrating on getting the Apex system installed and making sure I have room for the Vortech controller(s). Doesn't look like much, but I have the basic frame work for the rear cabinet done. Also I still need to make the back plate for the drawer which will hold the wires in place behind the equipment board. I've also decided to cut a finger hole in it to make removal easy.

Got a little more work done this weekend. Not as much as I have liked to, but things are starting to look nice. Still have a few things to button up, but I'm almost to the point I can put a finish coat on the stand and worry more on the next steps in this build. I still need to attach the bottom trim, veneer and stain the equipment board. I'm using the dark stain here. I also still haven't made the rear cover or cut any holes to route cables in and out of the cabinet. I'll finalize that when I have the rest of the equipment in May. So far I'm happy with how things are turning out. Anyway here's a few pics of the progress...

Started working on the back cover, but I haven't gotten everything done with it yet. I still need to make a few holes, clean things up, and paint it. The rest of it is coming along nicely though. Here's a sneak peek at the electronics cabinet from the front of the cabinet after everything has been stained.

I'm still working on one more small part of the slide out cabinet and will get pics of it when its completed. Also I still need to paint the outside of the back cover and still haven't finished all the stain yet. Once I have all the wet equipment I'll sort out the best option for routing all the cables. I've been considering some other additions to the cabinet and will discuss more on that later. These are just little things that give me a little more peace of mind and a little less work. More to come...
