I have reefmat 1200. Love the design and simplicity. My problem is consumption on my second roll. I have it set to lowest advancement setting. It hangs on side of the sump. I have 2 cor 20s that do about 1120gph.

So the first roll consumption is what I expected at about three weeks use. My second roll, well that's concerning. Why is it using so much per day? Nothing has changed regarding feeding, bio load etc.

I've used 60' since I changed the roll this past wednesday

I had a similar issue and it only occurred with one roll. It literally started the day i put that roll in and then, once I switched out the roll, it went back to normal consumption like clockwork. I think there are some faulty rolls if I had to guess.

For reference, I usually get close to 8 weeks out of a roll and that one roll was only 12 days.

No. I opened a ticket with redsea. Waiting to hear back why such a drastic difference between the two. Second roll lasted 7 days, ridiculous
Very strange. I do get "spikes" whenever I do a lot of heavy algae scraping - but otherwise it's fairly consistent.

I've been getting about 5 days per roll since I set mine up. I'm really close to pulling the entire thing out and going back to socks
My usage was down from about 85" to 75" yesterday, but that still included a bunch of crap from the overflow cleaning. I'll never go back to filter socks...

Are you running the 500 or 1200? No media in the caddy and you removed it as well - yes?

There are many factors which can influence usage, including how you have it setup, what equipment you run, stocking, feeding, etc.

Mine is the 500. No media in caddie, although I haven't removed it, maybe I should try that

500 on what size tank? What's your stocking like? Yes, if you're not using the caddy (which I don't recommend) definitely take it off (helps improve flow).

I run a ReefMat 1200 on a Red Sea 750XXL with 49 fish. I also run a ton of bio media (MarinePure, PolypLab), Nyos Quantum skimmer with Poseidon 200 ozone, 57-watt UV and a pair of Nyos Torq reactors (Zeo/Phosi-Ex/carbon).

Last roll I was averaging 40-60" daily. This is up about 25% post-sump and tank cleaning, but is slowly being reduced each day.

500 on a red sea 250. Zero fish, two hermit crabs and a couple of snails.

How high is the water level that it sits in?

There's no way it should be using that much fleece. Something isn't working correctly or hasn't been setup correctly.

Redsea communication is absolute garbage. Havnt heard anything since early Friday regarding my ticket.

Their solution, do a factory reset. We'll did that, I changed a roll on Friday, and I've already used 24'.

Im starting to think I either have a lemon, or these things are complete garbage with fleece consistency.

I have noticed the floss material is not always consistent. Some parts of the roll are very thin easy to see through and other parts are very solid looking. Flow seems to have a lot to do with usage. I have two of the 1200 on a 400G. Two 2000Gph pumps. One uses floss faster then the other because it has more flow. I plan to reduce my overall flow a bit to get more life. I would say I get 4 to 6 weeks out of each roll.

I got three weeks out of first roll. Second roll only seven days. Now third roll is at daily average of 144 inches. This can't be right. Nothing system wise has changed from first roll to now. Like do they think these rolls are cheap? I don't even mind the three week usage of the first roll. But to go though rolls every seven days is pathetic

Thier ticket communication is garbage.

Can you post a good Pic of what the used looks like and how well light passes through the new roll. I will post mine.
Sure. My first roll was the one that came with the reefmat. Second and third were replacement ones.
