I just meant I couldn’t add another Blenny, I understand they are dangerous in pairs. Any thoughts on the “girlfriend” idea for the six line? I did a little research and it seems they are hit or miss when trying to pair, or having multiple in a tank.

Used to have a sixline wrasse and added a second one and the Third World War started and the new guy was totally humiliated and beaten as badly ever. So frustrating cause there was nothing to do different than destroying my aquarium scape trying to separating them, someone’s local suggested to placed a FOURLINE Wrasse and [emoji1374][emoji1374] finally peace at my reef, now the three wrasses ignores each other and bye bye any kind but honestly ANY kind of pest.

Just got all the way through your build thread. Expertly put together setup and I love the scaping!

Sorry to hear you're dealing with the algae, it's one of the most frustrating parts of the hobby IMO. The turbos should definitely help but they take time because they're slow AF but they do their job well! Best of luck in the battle!

Thank you! It’s definitely been a battle. But I’m trying to be proactive now and I’m scrubbing every water change. The hardest part is starving the algae while also knowingly, simultaneously , starving my SPS as well. The good part is everything still seems to be growing well, but the color has left most sticks and they have become pale. But I’ve been here before and I know with stable parameters and nutrients I can get the colors back.

Out of curiosity, and I apologize if you addressed it elsewhere in the thread and I missed it, are you running your sump/fuge/algae reactor light on a reverse cycle?

Yessir. I have a refugium in my Sump that has live sand and live rock and I grow chaeto in it on a reverse cycle. And I got a new light and my chaeto has really taken off.

Ok that's what I figured but I wanted to double check. I started running reverse light timing in my sump and the algae has exploded down there and started to leave the DT. Definitely not a solution however it's helping with the eye sore haha.

What do you have the new sump light set to spectrum wise? I believe I recall reading that growing algae works best at a high white intensity as opposed to they normal blue we use for the reef tanks?

Sorry if all of this has been covered, I was keeping up with the balancing of chems in the water column but I've never had luck with any of that so I guess I bring things back to basics for the most part haha. Water changes and algae growth in the sump.

Right now, the light I have is not really geared towards algae growth however it is better than the par38 flood lamp I had previously. I have plans to pick up one of the cheap ufo grow lights off amazon soon.

While true, Midas usually are fine with the herbivore blennys in larger tanks... but a scooter "blenny" is no blenny at all. Its a dragonet, like mandarins. I can't see any reason you couldn't add a scooter, unless you either had a mandy or already had a scooter.

I’ve always wanted to keep a mandarin, I think they are beautiful but were impossible to keep in my nano. I think I will try one out :)

And if I remember correctly @saltyfilmfolks has one and he’s a fat daddy....the mandarin I mean, not salty..

Haha. I was just looking at gut.

Honestly , I'd do the scooters. Brown or red. They have the personality of golden lab. Always happy. They also have the metabolism of a standard fish rather than the sea horse style gut of a Mandy. Thus the need for a good bug populations and the established tank thing. But you'll have to eye ball that And yes, I've had a Mandy and a scooter in a very small tank together. 30 gal. Please don't call the fish police.

Current Bulb combo is
Front to back
1 B+
2 C+
3 B+
4 P+
5 B+
6 Actinic
7 C+
8 B+
Channel 1: 12pm-10pm
Channel 2: 1pm-9pm
Reefbrite Tech LED Actinic: 9am-12pm
8pm-11pm
Dosing kalkwasser(mrs wages) in ATO for Calcium and alkalinity which stay at
Calcium:440. Alkalinity-8.9
And I dose Randy’s Recipe for magnesium when needed and that stays at 1360ppm.
I’ve started dosing KNO3 again as my corals have been paling. My skimmer was cut back to run on opposite cycle at night with my refugium light. Same thing I did with the biocube. I trimmed my chaeto today and wow, I could’ve filled up 3-one gallon bags! Back to dosing Acropower as well. I put it on the jebao DP4 and it’s set to dose 6 ml every day.
