I'd scrub a day or two before the wc. Let the sock grab it all. If you have a canister filter handy hook it up with just floss.

Your never going to get it all out. But if you can get a big chunk gone you can retest the po4( like removing gfo )to see what the tank actually has

But you did test po4 before the algae came in correct ? You would have seen a problem then. I.e. Leaching.

I have a tank that that registers all zero. I put stuff from the ocean in it. I should have Dino's.

If he has dinos your methods will make it worse. Guess we shall find out what it is that he has.

If it was anything but dinoflagellates, you would be correct.

I elevated my n and p levels and beat dinos. Water changes before elevating made them worse.

PO4 was always undetected when I tested.

A quick fwiw. My nutints in the 55g have always been high. They are lower than they ever have been now.
I have dictoya (algae) in my tank. It used to be a tiny patch in my overflow. I changed from ESV to tropic marine balling salts. The dictoya is going nuts.
Algae feed on more than nutints.

I'd wager your is feeding on both the minerals from the rock. So imo , ugly phase, and it'll pass.

I'd feed the fish healthfully and keep scrubbing. A good Bactera to boost the bio filter maybe.

I don't think it's Dino's. Never seen green ones in a carpet with structure before. Yea. I could be wrong.

Don't you enjoy debates? Lol

Note: I am not an expert, just a guy who has been reefing since 2004 if that counts for anything [emoji23]
Counts for a lot. But you'll appreciate skepticism too then.
In most tank threads it's always cancer.

I mean Dino's.

Fwiw the rev (R2r owner ) had the same questions on Dino's. 14 pages later....Went away with no treatment. (My suggested cure). Lol.to easy I guess
