Hello everyone, so after setting up my reefer 750 xxl and loving it so much my son wanted a fish tank for Christmas. Soooooo after doing some looking and searching I found this little gem for the deal of a lifetime which I couldn't turn down. The previous owner did explain to me that there was a pinhole size leak in the left back corner due to the silicone beginning to fail. So after a couple minutes of negotiations the tank was broken down and brought home. I started off by cleaning everything because it looked like the tank had not had any maintenance done to it in over a year. Once everything was all clean and separated began to work on the pinhole leak in the corner. I am not an expert sealing tanks by any means look up a couple YouTube videos on how to and began with a razor blade to cut out the silicone in the inside corner of the tank. After that wiped down with some alcohol and laid down new silicone seal allowed to dry for the recommended time and then put water and tested did not find anything leaking everything looked like it was working great now time to assemble. Put the sand back and put in a couple leftover pieces of rock from the 750 build. Installed all the plumbing which was a breeze on these reefer tanks but then noticed that the bulkheads were leaking. After a little troubleshooting decided to drain the Overflow and remove the plumbing for the Emergency Drain and for the return pump which were the ones that were leaking. Added some Teflon tape to the threads on the bottom of the pipes and reinstalled. After this was done there was not one leak or one drip coming from the newly sealed lines problem solved. Continued to set up the tank installing the skimmer, light, heater, return pump and all that good stuff. Once I made sure there were no more leaks went to bed because it was 3 a.m. and had to be on the way to work at 6 a.m. so will continue to update as I get time to work on the tank and upload some pictures

Looks like great find on the tank! That's awesome your pulling your son along with you in the hobby. What learning experience and memory maker you two will have together. Following!
Thanks he always sees me working on the tank and doing things hes my hose holder on my water changes he helps me with the empty buckets to get water and many other things he always asking how he can help. So the last couple of times we went to the LFS they have nano tanks and other cube tanks, so hes been telling me he really wants one hes 6 btw so while he was at grandmas me and mom set the tank in his room let's just say when he came back he was screaming and running all over the house lol

Where’s the video?!!!
I'll post a video when I get home today

Couple questions I have.....since the tank was running and cycled would I need to fully cycle the tank again after stirring the sand bed and adding kinda new water? Rocks have some nice coraline build up on them. the water from the bin full of rocks which I was adding microbacter 7 to i ended up using some of that and I'm also currently adding microB7 daily two caps full..

Should i keep the lights off for now ?
Need to plug them up and play with them since these are the first set of radions I own

Also is it ok to dose Cal and Mg one after the other I know Alk doesnt mix with cal so I wait a while to add that usually at night when the lights go off

Moving tanks and setting them back up seems to be case by case scenario.

I have never done it. But it appears you did everything well.

It may go through a short cycle on its own due to any potential die off from the move.

Have you tested for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate a couple times?

Not sure you need to do any dosing as not to much there yet to demand it.

Have you tested for alk and calcium to see if there is any drop off daily?

Are there any fish in it yet?

Lots of questions to help with answers!
