Hey yall,

I have a situation I would like some input on. I had someone do a paid hold on a Holy Grail micro frag I’m selling with the expectation to pick it up that same week, but it’s now been a month and they still haven’t picked it up and aren’t responding to messages. The frag is now growing more heads and I feel like it’s now worth more than they paid for it originally as it has grown quite a bit. How would you approach this situation? Thank in advance for any input!

Sell it to someone else and refund the deposit if they ask about it.

I'd return the money and relist it.

This is also why I don't hold for more that 24 hrs and I don't take any money until the sale.

I just feel like that defeats the purpose of a paid hold and would be shady on my part, maybe I’m mistaken. Also I do have other frags available so it’s not like I need to sell that specific frag if someone wants one

Man, especially on FB. Those suckahs will ask if it's still available 5 times then never respond and I'm thinking are they just curious....:face-with-rolling-eyes:
I hear you, people love to waste our time lol. It’s just wild to me that someone would pay in full for a coral then go MIA haha

Seriously, tell him you held it for a month. You're only giving them back 75%.. Tell him you had five other people ask for it after him and you could have sold it and had it gone. Lol

Just my 2 cents here
If you agreed that he pay and you hold the coral for a few days I think you should give him the same coral, the advices above are perfect and is what I would do from the beginning but if you already did the business in one way you should end it the same way IMO, These are lessons for the future, in this case, you may lose, but you will take the learning with you. Maybe that person was affected by the hurricane or something happened.

See I tend to agree with this as well, but it was agreed upon that he would pick it up by the end of the week and hasn’t. Had he asked me to hold for a month or more I would’ve declined from the start. We’re here in Cali so definitely not a result of the hurricane. Also, the fact that he hasn’t responded to my numerous attempts to follow up with him about pick up further complicates the situation. I think I’ll just do what was mentioned earlier and give him one more day to respond/pick up and if not I’ll just refund him and put the coral back up for sale

Well it’s kind of messed up for them to also be past 3 weeks of them showing up and not responding.

Something could have happened but as long as the money is refunded, I don’t see it as unfair.

If for some reason the coral dies under the OPs care, let’s say power outage, equipment failure, earthquake, who knows… the person will probably want their money back even though they left it there and it should have been sold and done with.

My LFS would only hold coral or fish for 3 days, if you didn’t show, it was put back up for sale.

Did he tell you he would pick up in one week? If so and it's been a month and he won't reply to you, re-sell it and keep both payments.
