Powerheads: Ramp Up/Down, Stay constant, or other?

Should we have our powerheads increase and decrease velocity throughout the day or stay constant?

I know coral enjoy the flow during the day time, but what about night? Do we lower flow for them? Do we lower flow for the fish to sleep? I know reefers didn’t worry about this when controllers weren’t a thing, but I’m curious where it stands and what everyone does.

I would not lower it at night, especially since oxygen levels and pH drop at night

I keep my flow at minimum during the daylight hours, for my clams benefit, but I blast the flow at night.

I've done a night dive once before on a reef. The current was just as strong as it normally was during the day, IMO.

I would’ve thought the total opposite… shows how blind I am to it. I wonder how known it is, especially for those of us with controllers. Thank you guys!
