Yeah the salinity is indeed 1.028. I brought it down to 1.027. I can already tell the nem is going to expel old water and take in new water. In fact it looked like it was going to close its mouth. It seems like I’m on the right track. Tomorrow I’ll bring the salinity down to 1.026 and we’ll see from there.

There are moments when it seems like the RBTA is about to close its mouth but it’s just not quite there. That said it’s in the best shape today that I’ve seen it in since I’ve had it. Plus look at the bubbles! Big and fat! All this from a drop in salinity of 0.001 SG!

I found out yesterday that my salinity was 1.028 although my other levels are good. As a result I dropped my SG to 1.027 last night. The anemone seems happie...

As I posted yesterday I dropped the salinity to 1.027 SG from 1.028 SG. I plan to drop it to 1.026 SG later today. My understanding is that dropping SG more than 0.001 a day is unsafe. I could be totally wrong but especially with a nem I just don’t want to risk it. As good as this anemone looks today; I can’t wait to see it when I get salinity down to 1.026 SG.

My corals look great today as well. If anything the cabbage leather has even better polyp extension. The polyps aren’t reaching for more light, they’re just slightly larger than they have been.

Soooo I need to get some color in this tank. I know it’ll be hard to get much color with my choice of MH spectrum but I intend to get blue LEDs to build into the canopy to get some pop.

I’m going to be looking at some less aggressive LPS with good color. Brains, Micromussa Lordhowensis, and chalices, I’m looking at you. I might have to make a trip north soon although I’d like to find someone local who has the LPS I seek. Any suggestions on other colorful, less aggressive LPS that wouldn’t require me to take out a second and third mortgage to obtain? Please advise.

So chalices are SPS and not what I could call, homie friendly, especially to other chalices.

Brains are all pretty expensive currently. You can still find deals on cynarina and scolys if you try hard.

Acans, bowers, are super colorful and can make a fantastic garden.

Some mushrooms would also be nice as they are not expensive, and vary greatly in color.

Bowerbanki are a lot more expensive, but cool and big. Huge fan of hammers. favia are rumored to be aggressive, but I haven't seen it in my tank. Trust ten experts though, not me.

In the realm of sps, lepto and pocilipora are cool. Edit: at least I haven't killed any of those montis and chalces I have.

As for shrooms there’s a sky blue shroom I’m trying to find locally. Eventually I want some ricordia yuma shrooms and some bounce shrooms too. They’ll have to drop significantly in price before I’d buy any bounces.

These are also great ideas. I definitely want a hammer coral. I also want a bubble coral now that I think of it.

Once I can keep montiporas alive and thriving I want to buy a Christmas tree worm rock. Pocillopora seems to be attractive to the Christmas tree worms. They’re expensive as anything but worth it! I also know there are other corals the worms like to burrow into and take up residence in. I just can’t think of them offhand.

Shrooms and RFA, are in my opinion to the cheapest ways to add vibrant color to your tank. Most shrooms can be had for 25 bucks. You don't need to get crazy and fancy. You can cover most colors in the rainbow. They propagate fairly easily and are not what I would consider aggressive, as They have to actually touch the other coral to fight.

Hammer and bubble as you mentioned below are great. LPS, but neither fits into the non-aggressive world. A hammer can send a sweeper out three times Its body width, in length. Bubble corals can essentially hit anything in the tank they want to. Both pack a nasty punch and can melt other corals easily. Many people keep them because they are great corals, You need to know how to keep them safe and other things safe from them.

Favia has a ton of color availability. I'd do Favia and Micros. Brains are supposed to be easy but they don't like me.

Softies - look at Cloves and Mushrooms for color as well? Ricordea and Rhodactis both can have gorgeous color.

They are.

I want to buy a Christmas tree worm rock. Pocillopora seems to be attractive to the Christmas tree worms.

I have never seen these in pocillopora.. are you thinking of porites? They also like cyphastrea. But, the Xmas tree worms can be very hard to keep alive. Not saying you can't, but considering the cost, it's something to consider.

I have never seen these in pocillopora.. are you thinking of porites? They also like cyphastrea. But, the Xmas tree worms can be very hard to keep alive. Not saying you can't, but considering the cost, it's something to consider.

If I ever find a Christmas tree rock for a good price I’ll bite but otherwise it’s a very long term goal.
