Hi Jason, how do you get such good pictures? Do you use a DSLR attached to the triscope?

Hi Jason, how do you get such good pictures? Do you use a DSLR attached to the triscope?

Secret to photography is to take millions of pictures. At least one should turn out good. ;)

Much easier or cheaper to do with digital. But no I don't use a DSLR. It's a dedicated camera mounted on top. This is the scope and kit got.

I have ideas of what I want next. I was going to keep upgrading this one but now I think I will give it to my kids and buy a whole new setup to start with again.

I'm expecting the next setup will be over double what I paid for that one.

Features I want
1. Plan inifinity corrected objectives
2. Trinocular
3. 18mp usb 3.0 top mounted camera
4. Phase contrast kit

I can get that together then will look at getting a 60x and 100x dry objective and looking into EPI-Fluorescent kits too.

On request for an Update since my last dosage of Metro. Yes, I still very much have dinoflagellates as seen under the microscope but none visually just looking at the tank.

Pulled from my favorite place my ATS. Found a new unknown and got to see an amoeba en-cyst itself. Very cool. I love watching the amoebas and have seen at least two different kinds. I have seen them split, engulf, digest, expel, etc but have not gotten to see one turn into a cyst stage.

Uploading pics and videos now.

I'm not entirely sure what this thing was. Amoeba like but moved quite differently and almost reminded me of a part of an aiptasia but didn't look the same as what I've seen before. Seemed to have some segmentation but maybe not.

Here's one of the types of amoeba's I've seen several times in the past consume organisms and split. I got to see this one consume as it went at least once but then for the first time I found this one to create a cyst.

This is right before it turned into a cyst. It sort of "reached" up and came back down forming an orb. I'm not sure but it could be because it got hit by a nematode. Videos to come.

Long but you get to see it consume something (just after the 8 minute mark it runs into a snack) and eventually create a cyst (After the 15 minute mark it starts its transformation. )

That's so cool. Although not entirely sure what I'm looking at. A little over my head. And what about that crazy thing that snakes in and out?!?!
