A friend gave me a Pintai Fairy. He ordered some fish and got send two Pintails so he gave me one of the two. I put him in my QT system, but after 24 hrs he is still in hiding, I did not see the Naoko or the Eightline bother him, but I decided to release the two wrasses into DT, and leave the Pintail in QT with my China Wrasse and the two clowns. I set up the acclimation box last night. Caught the Naoko and Eightline in the middle of the night. It is much easier to catch them in their sleep. I kinda know where they sleep so it is really easy to fish nap them one at a time with a bright flashlight.
Below is the picture of the two wrasses this AM. The Eightline even secret a perfectly round cocoon to sleep in.
I released them to DT this evening about 2 hrs before light out.

I am not too happy. I added the two wrasse in DT last week. The Eightline female were in hiding the whole two days in a piece of rock fight in front of the tank, and the Naoko was doing great, out all the time and eating everything. I have to pipet food to the Eightline which is not easy because my tank is 72X36X30 and I can only access it from the back.
Fortunately, after 2 days the Eightline start to go out and she is out 100% of the time now. Chasing food and eat them like a champ. Everything, flakes, pellets and frozen. She have not compete with the larger wrasses for Nori clip yet. She is doing great. No body bothering er at all. The male Eightline flashing at her often which is great.

The Naoko, on the other hand, disappeared 2 days after release. Gone, not a trace. He cannot jump out, and cannot ride down the overflow, both completely covered. This leave the Tusk, and the Carpets. Neither option is any good. Highly unlikely it is the Tusk. He never, ever eat another fish or shrimp in my tank since I had him. Must be one of the carpets had an expensive dinner. :( This is really a bummer. I really like the Naoko and he was so healthy and was doing great. Other fish chase him but only a little.

My tank is covered. But my Naoko was able to jump out. Check the floor.

There is absolutely no way the Naoko can jump out. Completely cover without even a small crack and this wrasse is too big to go through the 1/4 inches mesh needed to let the Naoko to jump through.

Thanks. My Harlequin Tusk does not bother anybody. He just ate all my tiny snails. I got a population of tiny snails multiply in my tank, wipe out in 1 week.

Can you tell us more about the otohime food? I read you thaw it a week at a time. How big a bad are you buying, where are you buying from, and how much are you using a week? The colors in your wrasses are amazing and I'm sure it this food is definately the cause. I may have missed it, but what feeder are you using too?

I use Otohime C1. It is a Marine Fish Larval and Weaning Food produced by Marubeni Nisshin Feed Co. Imported by Reed Mariculture Inc. The size I used is C1. This is perfect for all my fish large and small. Fish live the stuff. All the fishes, even newly caught, once they took a bite, they will eat it.
I use an Eheim Auto feeder. I can program it to feed 4 times a day.
I will try to do a video of the feeding this weekend.

Nuptial color of the male Flame Angel during courtship. Never mind the sand storm. My tank get sand storm at times when the PH kicks up a notch.
