I added this guy, male Black Leopard (Macropharyngodon negrosensis) to my QT last night. He ate at Petco. The light is a little blue at the end of the day, but the scales are florescent blue. Pictures just does not do him justice becasue the florescent color cannot be capture with camera. He dug in to sleep last night before the light turn our. Hope he get out of bed tomorrow.

Both specimens are beautiful and the photos definitely do them justice (even if better in person, understandably).

I cannot help but think that Macropharyngodon negrosensis, the Black Leopard wrasse, is the most beautiful of the Leopard wrasse. If anybody disagree with the above statement, please feel free to post picture of your wrasse. I would love to see picture of ANY leopard wrasse that rival my male Black Leopard.

I also got a T. gigas last week from LA. Here he is pictured below along with my T. squamosa. With the Gift certificate for 50.00, and 10 dollars off from 5% cash back, and 20% off going on right now, I got the second Gigas for 100.00 plus tax. So I get the second one on Tuesday.

Friday, going home from work I stop by the only LFS in Corpus that sell Marine fish, other than Petco, and stumble upon the Onyx Percula. someone bring back to the LFS. I am looking for WC Onyx Percula so I got her. Now I have a pair of Onyx Percula, wild caught and have perfect shape in every way. They paired up quickly, they even kick the other Percula out of the anemone. The larger one, the female, is the new one.

I looked around locally for Otohime and no one carries it. So I ordered from Flordia. Got here in 2 days, but when opened the box it said to store 41-50 deg f. I'm sure it got well over that during shipping. Can I still use it? It's in the fridge now, but I didnt know it needed to be chilled when I ordered it.

Yes, it should be fine. Best place to get it is Reed Mariculture/reef nutrition. Just keep it refrigerated from now on and use it up as fast as you can.

Thanks. I looked there, but I'm on the east coast so figured Florida was a safer bet. 1 kg bag is going to take a while for me to get gone, even with feed 3 times a day with auto feeder.

It is fine. The product is very dry and will be fine. The manufacturer do not recommenced that you freeze it. Why I am not sure. I just freeze them in the freezer and thaw out for feeding put in the auto-feeder. I refill it about once every 10 days or so. Straight from freezer to the auto-feeder. My fish love the stuff. Even in the freezer, the pellets remain separate and does not cake up.

You are the reason I bought some. I love wrasses and have had my fair share of them, but none of the ones inhave had have ever colored like yours and we have owned several of the same species.

The freezer lyses the cells even though the product is pretty dry. We saw degraded performance in growth and feed conversion with frozen vs refrigerated. It was still pretty good though, so not much worry about freezing honestly.

With the Gift card I got from my last Gigas (50.00) and the 5% cash back (10.00) and the 20% off (40.00) I got the second Gigas for roughly 100.00 plus tax. Below are picture of the Gigas#1, Gigas#2. The Gigas #2 came last Tuesday, cold from the cold pack. Initially his mantel is retracted below the shell but slowly recovered. The picture is after he is in my tank for about 80+ hrs. Mantel have extended past the shell but not anywhere near the Gigas #1 which is in the tank exactly 7 days earlier.
I irritated the mantel of Gigas #1 a little to expose 11 days worth of shell growth, It is arount 1.5-2 mm worth of growth. Now that it is comfortable, I expect the Gigas #1 to continue to grow at an explosive rate. I need to get my Ca reactor cranking.

Gigas #1 today 7/20/2019

Gigas #1: 11 days worth of shell grow.

I went out of town yesterday AM before the light on and came back last night after the light out. This morning, when the light come on, instead of having one Purple Tip Magnifica, I have two fully formed. Sometime in the last 36 hrs my Mag started and completed the split. I did not even see it until it is done. Often, when this happened in the past, the Mag would looks poorly, partially deflated, then split. I did not see him yesterday and the split started and completed sometime in 36 hrs.

I got a new blue Gigantea. He arrives sick. I detail his treatment here:

The short of it is that the anemone arrived sick and float around the tank overnight. I took him out for treatment

Not attached to anything and have to be trap with a cup handle to keep him stay put initially
bluegig03-jpg.1138226

A few days into treatment
bluegig04-jpg.1138227

After 10 days of treatment, right before I scrape him off of the bottom of the tank and move to my refugium
bluegig13-jpg.1138230

Day 1 post treatment
bluegig15-jpg.1138231

Day 2
bluegig23-jpg.1138233

Day 3
Biased eyes of mine, but I think he is much better and he will be a special anemone if I can get him to live. If I am sucessful, he will be one of the sickest anemone that I successfully treated.
