Carbon will remove discoloration from the water, not particles. Watching your video, I see fine particle sand, at least one wrasse, and large flow pumps. I suspect sand and detritus is suspended in the water column.
I wonder why my filter socks are not catching this then?

Do you think reducing my return pump flow will help at all or unrelated? I ask because I run my return pump at 100% and its rated for a bigger tank than what I have. My reason behind it because I thought higher turnover rate meant more cleaning of the water...

If not, should I reduce my gyre & mp40 intensity? Theres no visible sand being blown around besides noticing a few grains of sand moving along the bed every so often. But it does visibly push sand into a pile over say a weeks period. I dont ever notice it strong enough to push the sand into the water column

Good mechanical filtration (I use filter floss instead of socks), rox carbon and occasional calcium flocculant if needed

Another suggestion to apply on a temporary basis

Do you put it in a media bag as well? Does a carbon reactor make life easier? Im wondering if its possible to run one without a sump
Sorry, just now saw this. I keep my carbon in a media bag and put it in the overflow area of my tank. No carbon reactor

I have an AIO. My first chamber is my protein skimmer and a Little Rock rubble at the bottom for the pods to hang on to, second is a bag of Rox 0.8 carbon just "floating" there and the two Pinky pads at the bottom. Third chamber is my heater, ATO sensor, and return pump.
is the skimmer adjusted dry or wet? Also what cleanup crew or diversity do yo have in tank? copopods?

Yes, I've stocked it with copepods before I ever added any fish or corals. There is one fish in there, a springeri damsel, and he has taken a lot of the copepod population down, but there are still on the glass and rocks, just not as many as there was before him.

CUC, I have 5 small blue legged hermits, 5 cerith snails, 3 astera snails, 1 trochus snail, and 5 tiny nassuris snails.

My skimmer is in between wet and dry I would say.

Damsel's are tough. review tank and add as needed.

my skimmer is more wet than dry. But still coming out dark brown. I have zombie snails, bumble bees and nerite. Blue n red legged hermits, tuxedos and emeralds. I dosed a lot of copepods during the first 3 months but haven’t in the past 2 months.
How is the flow to your overflow? could it be blocking the water column fron the wier. try a surge pattern.
My flow seems to be good through the wier. The socks get dirty really fast so I’m assuming I have good turnover.

I just purchased some Bulk Reef Supply ROX 0.8 Carbon from BRS. I plan on putting it in a media bag and dropping it in a chamber. Do you think that would be sufficient?
I dropped a bag full in my return chamber and, oh yes it definitely works!

How quickly are you changing the socks and what micron are they?

About every 3 days. 225 micron but maybe they’re worn out? They’ve been through the washer handful of times been using the same ones for 5 months now since I started the tank. Not sure when I should replace for new ones lol but debating if I should use filter socks or filter floss. I have the cups but I seem to be clogging them up so I still haven’t found my ideal method yet for mechanical filtration

200+ micron is too big. At minimum it needs to be 100um.

I actually have a method that will get your tank extremely clear. Clearer than any sock will get you. It uses a diatom filter.

A simpler method is to use better mechanical filters and prevent sand from blowing around.
