3 weeks following Helene we finally have water again!! All the lines have been flushed, we’re under boil advisory, and there’s the potential of clay and other sediment although I think that’s more of a problem in the water supply the city over (which will eventually supply 25% of our water).
The question is when to restart top off water. It’s certainly possible they’re using more chlorine than normal. I know for the city next door they’re using (I think) aluminum sulfate to coagulate reservoir sediment (although they always do this, unclear if they’re using more than normal). I have a 5 stage RODI with the triple TDS in-line monitor. My filters aren’t fresh by a few years, but our water quality has been exceptional and even pre-filters are snow white still. It’s certainly possible the carbon stage could be stressed/exhausted though.
Is it safe to assume, that so long as final TDS is zero, that the water is pure of every possible contaminate and good to go?
