Listen, I know that many of us don't want unexpected visitors in our tank, but it happens. Although most of these hitchhikers aren't desirable inhabitants, sometimes you get something that you actually want to keep!

Let's see some of your favorite hitchhikers!

Clymenella worm! Also known as the Spike Funnel Anus Worm (trademark, copyright pending). Has the ability to consume sand bed detritus using both its mouth AND its anus (that spikey funnel shaped part on the right side). Contender with the spaghetti worm as top hitchhikers in my tank!

Somehow got a bunch of chitons at some point:

*old picture that I've posted elsewhere but I like it
Awww how cute! Those look very young! :)
I had one for a few years, but sadly it was just the one. Though he did love hitching rides on my trochus snails, in his old age.

I'm finding new things every day. I spotted this a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was a coral, but now I'm seeing the tentacles. I honestly don't know what it is but it's cool to watch.
I found a baby mantis this evening, too. It seems to be creating a few lairs, running from one to the next. That explains the broken shells I see in between the two locations.

Not at all cool compared to some of these, but I got some waving hand anthelia as a hitchiker.
Oh no!!! I had that in my last tank. I was in love with it, I defended it even. It was amazing to watch ... until it wasn't. It eventually went sexual and starting to spread all over the tank. Just a side note, when you remove the rock and try to physically remove it, it will put off an odor that smells like the morgue. I highly suggest making it disappear before it turns on you.
