New ORA Saddleback Clownfish, does this "white dust" look to be of concern?

This is so weird. I just checked on the saddles and the big one has a very large white growth under the jaw. Wasnt there this morning. Like a pimple size. What is this now?

Lower chin lesions on clowns are really common - from bumping into something or even lip locking with another clown. As long as it doesn’t grow larger it isn’t anything to worry about. If it ruptures, turns red or grows larger, that can be a sign of bacterial infection.

Thanks Jay!

I really dont know what to do now since I cant really identify whats goin on in the DT. Two wrasses now appear to be flashing a lot, and twitching their heads every now and then.. Rapid twitch, then a scratch.

Based on what you see on the saddles, could the twitching and scratching be Ich or Brook, or flukes. Havent seent much in terms of white spots other then potentially the sand grain.

I have enough equipment to run hybrid TTM or just copper and do formalin/h202 dips. Or just run the prazi after 8 more days and see (unless white spots show). What would you run, or would you wait it out a few more days to see what else shows up. I have lots of experience running normal TTM, no experience running copper but seems simple enough.

So far observations in the DT (approximately 3.5 days from exposures to the saddlebacks):

1.) Radiant Wrasse head shake a little, and scratching on sand/rocks. Getting more and more frequent
2.) Timor Wrasse scratching a little
3.) About 4 fish are yawning a lot
4.) Potters angel with a small sand grain size single white dot on his tail, but that disappeared in about 4-5 hours
5.) Percula clown with a small sand grain size single white dot under his jaw, but that disappeared over night
6.) Blue tang looks like he is about to scratch himself but doesnt

No other symptoms, no other white spots. All fish had zero signs of parasites prior to saddlebacks. All 12 fish have been through TTM prior to entering DT.

Copper won't do anything against flukes. TTM doesn't work against flukes at all, unless you try a hybrid version that uses formalin or FW to knock the dips off between moves. Then, TTM has issues because some flukes are egg layers. That's the same reason that prazi often doesn't work - you need to time it just right.

What about hyposalinity? That will work against ich and flukes, and sometimes works against Brooklynella.

Also, some wrasses will "flash" against the substrate as a feeding response, or more properly, as they look for food.....

Right now, just pellets. NLS Thera+.

So I guess this isnt too significant to the issues at hand.

Is that the non-medicated NLS?

If I start to see a white dot or two on various fish, this is a sign of ich right? Brook wont come in with a dot or two, and then drop off?

Correct, Brook creates more of a mucus coating on the fish’s skin.

Thank you. I see a white sand grand size dot on my blue tang now, and with the similar spot on my potters angel yesterday and on my clown the previous day, I'm thinking this is confirmation of ich.

I will run TTM with prazi to treat ich and flukes on all the fish. I have formalin but I dont want to kill my wrasse if its not necessary to use it. Since formalin is only for brook, flukes and uronema.

Is fallow 42 days or 76 days?

Have you considered doing copper + prazi instead?
Im on the fence. I have coppersafe and hanna tester. Just afraid the wrasse will die since they are more sensitive. Also have been doing ttm for years with great success. Thought it was more advantageous since its unmedicated. And all the fish made it through ttm + prazi in the past.

This is my Stock list, any concern you with copper?

Blue tang, potters angel, purple tang, white tail tang, rhomboid wrasse x2, percula clowns x2, redline wrasse, radiant wrasse, melanurus wrasse, timor wrasse

Wrasses are fine with coppersafe. You can use silica based sand in the QT

Fallow periods of 60 days is safest. Minimum is 45 days fishless at 82 degrees F.

Thanks! I noticed more went spots.

I went ahead and set up two tanks for copper. The wrasse are in 1.12ppm and the other fish are in 1.5ppm... going to bump to 2.1 for the wrasse and 2.25 for the other fish over several days.

It took several hours to get all 12 fish but finally got them.

I threw in some sand for the wrasse, picked up from home depot. But the sand makes the water very mulky, I can barely see in it. I already washed the sand.. WIll this clear? Is it okay to use dried live sand, I think it might help me see.

You don't need to slowly raise it. Also, the error on the hanna is 0.2 so 2.1 may be too low.
