Picked up 2 gigs last week. A nice blue and a bright green. Shipment was delayed a day, but luckily due to their smaller size they weren’t too stressed from it.

Straight out of the bags in acclimation bucket

And in the tank

Green seems very healthy, the blue still has some signs of stress mouth is not as tight as I’d like to see but both very sticky and no deflation from either the past few days. Monitoring them closely but don’t feel I need to treat them as of now.

Better pic of the blue today showing his mouth. Not gaping, but not closed tight and siphonoglyphs visible. Nothing being expelled. Hoping it’s still just acclimating and won’t need treatment.

I've seen a lot of smaller gigs lately, which is a good thing. Seems like the track record on these smaller ones is a lot better than the larger ones.

Good luck!

Where have you been seeing them? I haven't had any luck lately.

My LFS (that now sells online) just got in a few and they quickly sold -- some to members of R2R. Prior to that I've been seeing them pop up randomly.

They still look a little stressed but should recover well without problem.
Agreed. Would you recommend trying to feed after a certain amount of days/weeks? Majority of my gigs in the past were in captivity long before I got them so didn’t have much of an acclimation phase as these newly imports.

Wouldn’t trying feeding any time soon. They don’t need it, and until fully acclimated (with longer tentacles and a wavy oral disk) you’re just tempting a bacterial infection if it doesn’t have strength to process the food… both digesting and ridding of waste.

Noted. I will wait till I see them start capturing food on their own. I know they don’t need it but my previous gigs always looked extra happy after a turkey baster full of mysis

Mine do too. My smaller ones look visibly larger after they eat, too. But it's more important to let them acclimate. Once they're comfortable, they'll eat and grow quickly.

How are these doing now?
They have not changed much. Still don’t think they are in the clear, I might go ahead and pull them this weekend and start treatment. Mouths are still opening from time to time, not gaping, but enough to raise some concern.

Well both gigs are moved into my hospital tank and I’ll start a cipro treatment on them tonight. They are still fairly sticky, but nothing like a healthy acclimated gig should be. Mouths still opening a few times a day. Would rather not wait any longer for things to take a wrong turn.. hopefully they will both come out kickin in a weeks time

They look pretty decent, but I think it's good that you decided to start treatment. I've mentioned this before, but I think it's worth mentioning again that in my experience, treatment doesn't harm an otherwise healthy anemone, so it's worth doing.

Anyone ever seen a Gig completely ball up? Trying to remember and I can’t say I ever saw any of my previous Gigantea ever do this? This was right when lights came on after first night of cipro

My new little gigs did this. Unfortunately, only one of them made it.

It's not usual for small ones to do this in treatment. It's almost as if they're constipated and ball up to prepare themselves for a big push. I wouldn't be surprised if you said that it opened back up and expelled something.
