Hi all,
Need some help with these pouting mushrooms! :confounded-face:
I have a rock covered with these mushrooms (Rhodactis, i believe) . They were nice and puffed up until 3-4 weeks ago but are showing signs of stress right now.
i reverted all the changes I made recently (Replaced the tank cover I had removed, removed the Xenia from the tank). I also moved the green cabbage coral that was close to them, removed a rogue emerald crab, and even added extra carbon to the filters. Everything else in the tank (Scoly, Torch, Blasto, Goni and even some other mushrooms like the red and green rhodactis, superman etc) look very happy. This is the ONLY coral that seems to be stressed out.
The tank params look normal. No ammonia, Ph is a bit high at 8.4, temp is 79 and salinity is a bit on the lower side at 1.023 (stable though).
I'm out of ideas now. Any thoughts on why only these shrooms are stressed out and throwing out mesenteric filaments (not a lot but a bit, mostly around edges) ?
Really appreciate your help! ^^

Hello!
Yes, the mushrooms are doing well now.
I waited for a couple of weeks but they were still pouting (and a green mushroom also started pouting). So I did a few things:
1. The salinity was a bit high (wrong refracto reading). So brought it down a bit.
2. Dipped the corals in coral revive for about 10 mins. put them back.
3. After 2 days, soaked them in iodine dip (2-3 x recommended strength) for about 30 mins. Put them back in a slightly different spot. (no major diff in lighting or flow. mostly just rearranged some rocks when i took this one out).
Can't tell which one helped but I believe it could be the iodine. They started perking up in the next couple of days or so. Back to normal now. ^^
