Hey guys!

Figured I'd share my experience ordering a gigantea from Reef Beauties. This was my second order with them, I had only purchased fish previously but just happened to see they had gigs available while browsing around and figured I'd give one a go.

Order was placed Thursday around noon and shipped out the same day, it arrived yesterday evening. The nem was in a large bag with plenty of water, which was a little cloudy with the usual debris (slime, some poop, etc) but I was happy to see it was firmly attached to the bottom of the bag. Did a 20 min temp acclimation and put it directly into my observation tank, no drip acclimation as I like to get them out of the dirty shipping water ASAP. I was very happy to see that the nem I received was actually a gigantea, I'm pretty hesitant to order non-WYSIWYG carpets as they're often mis-ID'ed

Here's the nem immediately after being removed from the shipping bag:

After being in the tank about 5 mins:

And this morning shortly after the lights came on:

I'm very impressed with the health of the anemone and would definitely recommend Reef Beauties to fellow hobbyists. All the fish I've received from them have been great as well.

As of writing this post, they still have a few available so if you've been looking for a small, healthy gig, go snag one before they're gone!

Gorgeous nem. I went to their site to see what they offered and nothing was listed for sale. How did you go about obtaining this nem?

I actually ‘taught’ them how to identify gigs vs haddoni after I ordered a haddoni and happily received a gig instead. I asked them to ship me all the carpets with purple spots under the oral disc. They had them listed as haddoni for about $45 at the time. I think I got around 6 (lost them and almost everything else in a terrible heavy metal contamination issue several months later). Then I kept bugging them about anymore of the carpets with spots, lol. I guess it was easier to just start properly identifying them on the website. I ordered 3 last week that showed up today and look great. I also ordered a mag that I think might color up to be a nice red foot with yellow tips. It’s not looking quite as good as the gigs, but not bad for a recently shipped mag. I’ll get some pics in a bit.
