Thanks for the great info. Would the same for pajamas go for bangaiis as well? I like both and don't have a preference so it might come down to availability. I did see 3 young pajamas today at my closest LFS where I get my water, but would prefer to buy my fish from a different one.

On the shrimp...thanks for the info on the skunk cleaner shrimp. Haven't heard of them before. Maybe when in the store I just haven't looked close enough. The fire shrimp seem so active in the store tanks so I wouldn't have known.

Thinking my plan is this on top of my percula, goby and blenny:

Pajamas or Bangaiis - 3
Shrimp - Skunk or Fire - 1
Firefish - 2-3?

Obviously not all at once. Will add pajamas or bangaiis first and then shrimp a few weeks later and if tank parameters maintain through that then the fire fish.

Thoughts?
Bangaii cardinals are different from pj's, as bangaii s will pr up and kill any other bangaiis, so either get a single one or a bonded pr.

Firefish also don't do well in groups in aquaria, they can also be difficult to pr, and if they are not a pr, one will kill the other. So I recommend only one.

A 30g is borderline for the Pygmy Yellowtail Angel, it may be more territorial in that small of a tank.

Other options may include royal gramma, yellow assessor, zebra dartfish, or grammistes blenny.

They are a peaceful, hardy, reef safe fish. Nearly exact in care and personality to the yellow assessor.

If you have a dark background sometimes they can be hard to see, but that's about the only negative with them.

I have a 100g reef tank. 48x24x20. Brs diy screen top.

I currently have:
2 b/w percula on the smaller side
1 red masked goby
1 fire fish

Arriving today are a pair of golden rhomboid wrasses.

I plan to add a group of sunset anthias later on. Im hoping for a group of 5 atleast? Do you see any problems with this combo?

Thanks.

Matt

Edit: my question was a little vague.

How many sunset anthias can I add to the 100g. Is 5 the max?

The cherub angelfish should be ok.

I think you could go as high as 7 for the parvirostris.

In a 30g I wouldn't add a bicolor dottyback, as they can get pretty nasty.

That stocklist should work, just add slowly and test frequently.

As for cuc, I prefer to base it off of what I actually need. All too often too large of a cuc is recommended or purchased, and as members of the cuc die off water quality is compromised.

In a 30g seahares and turbo snails will quickly starve. Trochus, astrea, and nassarius snails are good choices. A brittle or serpent star is a good overall scavenger, just avoid the large green ones, as they are fish eaters. I recommend against sand stars, as they deplete the sandbed of beneficial microfauna. Emerald crabs are an excellent algae eaters. I find sally lightfoots to be a little too opportunistic. I like hermit crabs, others don't. I don't like urchins, others do.

They are pretty mean. I would recommend waiting for the upgrade.

Saw a 3 gallon nano tank for sale, was going to use my old canister filter on that, it's rated for 70 gallons, and try and make a seahorse tank. Anyone know if this is possible?

That would be inadvisable, even the smaller seahorses available to the hobby need more room than 3g. And a canister rated for 70g in a 3g would be overkill, and likely splash a lot of water out of the tank.

One more, since I'm thinking about fish now! What's your thoughts on pairing or doing trios of borbonius? What size tank would you recommend if you were to try it?

What do you think of the sunset anthias as far as hardiness and compatibility? I see you recommend the dispar quite often, would you say these are comparable?
I have found parvirostris to be a little more sensitive than dispars and a bit more aggressive amongst one another, but still a good species.

Though borbs aren't that social, they also aren't too aggressive with each other. I would say a pr would be doable in a 4ft tank, if going for a trio than go for a 6ft tank. Those tank sizes are based on the adult size of borbonius.
