There are no products that you can buy and add to a reef with corals and invertebrates that will eradicate Marine Ich. The key word is treatment on the bottle/product, I can call Garlic a treatment, treatment really is only a buzz word in this context. You need to eradicate the parasite and neither of those products do so.

Ya there's many ich meds that say reefsafe but they don't contain copper.Copper kills ich but you cant put in a reef because it will kill coral and inverts.all the ich meds are a waste of money,Food is the best medicine for ich and not stressing the fish out

Sorry I have got to disagree with you there. If there was such a cure all that you could buy marine fish distributors/vendors would be using it and saving a ton of money related to livestock loss. What you saw as success is the reproductive cycle of the parasite. Cryptocaryans irritans is only visible to the naked eye on the surface of the fish for roughly 3-7 days. The common misconception is that the parasite is gone when in fact the parasite has fallen off the fish. The fish may not become symptomatic once the parasite enters the Trophonts stage again but the parasite is still present and the fish will become symptomatic again under the right stessors.

Uhhhm, after itching, scratching and gasping , it has been 3 months and the symptoms never came back. I also increased temp which helped.

Please read the link. Increasing temp is also a treatment for the fresh water disease a completely different organism than the saltwater parasite. When products are promoted with no research or scientific proof, no documention, those frustrated with the parasite buy them out of desparation. Cryptocaryons irritans treatment and eradication is very black and white, if you do not take the time to research the reproductive cycle you can not effectively treat. Just because you can not see the parasite does not mean it's gone and it all likely hood it's still there. Common sense should tell you that you would not see so many threads started on how to care for fish with the parasite if you could truck on down to your local fish store and buy a product and poor into a reef tank. You're not doing anyone any favors by promoting products that make false claims, well except for the manufactors and vendors of those products.

Marine Ich - Myths and Facts

+1

I wish every aquarist would read this article, as it is one of the most comprehensive summaries of the disease. It amazes me how many wives' tales continue to be perpetuated about this disease, when scientifically proven facts are available for everyone to read.
