I don't have any experience in tube nems....while searching for details/pictures for them growing in bottles/pvc..., I found this: https://animal-world.com/aquarium-coral-reefs/tube-anemone.@ramona wow never heard that before. How did you make those mounts?
I didnt have any luck either finding info on keeping them in bare bottom tanks either so I took the chance on using bottles and PVC pipes and luckily it worked great! The thing I think makes the biggest difference is to ensure that the pvc or bottle fits nicely around the tube nem's mucus sleave. If they can sense the surface of the pvc or bottle they are more likely to stay in place and create more of the sticky mucus membrane to keep them in place.I don't have any experience in tube nems....while searching for details/pictures for them growing in bottles/pvc..., I found this: https://animal-world.com/aquarium-coral-reefs/tube-anemone.
You have an awesome tank!
Hey congratulations on your success brother! Not a beginner animal at all. Regarding movement, ive always been in the mindset to put them on an island, being thats impossible in your setup... i would consider your suggestion of raising the intensity, my concern would be we dont know if lighting is the issue in the first placeSo a couple of updates; my LFS said they could order me a purple base mag for me for $15 (?!?) and I couldn’t pass that up! So we’ll see what actually comes in and if I wind up taking it or not. Also, the purple mag starting wondering again. At first I thought it may be spitting because it looked as it was stretching itself as far as it could, but never did.
It did allow me to see how much it’s grown and that I may need to reconsider my tank set up. I’m thinking of removing some corals to make more room and concentrate on a Ritteri/nem only tank. I leave for vacation starting next week so any major changes will have to wait. I’m also wondering if I need to increase my PAR (currently around 520 peak time) to prevent further wondering. I’m open to lighting and other suggestions or recommendations from our resident Mag Masters @Nemguy123 @OrionN @gig 'em @chizerbunoi @Sdot @atoll
Thanks @Sdot! Before I left on vacation I threw on a black box that I had lying around and set it at max and they haven’t moved since. In fact they stretched out to get more light. So I might be looking into getting more par for them.Hey congratulations on your success brother! Not a beginner animal at all. Thanks @chizerbunoi! Just got back into town and luckily came home to no issues. I do need to clean my gyres to increase flow. What pump/gyre are you using for your mags?I don’t think lighting causes them to stay in place in so much as proper water flow. Mine always moved if I modified the water flow.
Your tank looks great.
I am using Tunze powerheads on their multi wave controller. Tank looks good. Thanks @chizerbunoi! Just got back into town and luckily came home to no issues. I do need to clean my gyres to increase flow. What pump/gyre are you using for your mags?
