You will want to use a gate valve so you can finely tune the water in overflow. Ball valves are great for on/off but not ideal for adjusting/fine-tuning water flow.

My waterbox hangs over the front just like that. The front panel is floating with 0 support but that's the intended design of these tanks. It freaked me out when I first saw it! As long as the tank is resting on foam, flush with the back/sides, and is level from front to back / side to side then you should be good to go!

The tank looks great btw! This is my first time seeing a Nyos.
Well that is great news about the front but not so great news they included the ball valve in the plumbing but not a gate valve.
I wonder what size this is or where I can get one?

I just checked their site and they feature the ball valve in their pictures but BRS shows the gate valve :thinking-face:. I also found a thread showing their old gate valves rusting so that might play in a role in why it's no longer included.

BRS lists the following sizes for the OPUS G2 440 (definitely double check this before buying anything):
  • Primary Drain: 32mm
  • Emergency Drain: 20mm
  • Return Plumbing: 20mm
I found a thread of a guy replacing the gate valve on his NYOS and he bought the following:

I'm not sure if this will work exactly the same for your tank (they didn't list which NYOS they had) but hopefully it will help point you in the right direction.

I put in a ticket with Nyos and BRS so I would say they will answer me and I bet its the same as this guys build thread.
Also great find as I can run the tank like this for now and replace after I get the right parts

I highly recommend changing the ball valve as soon as possible, especially if you aren’t gonna hunt for a matching union to be able to just screw it in after the fact.

Doing any serious plumbing that requires glue in the process while the system is already running is a PITA. I know this from my own experience.

Also invest in a high quality gate valve and unions, they are money well spent.

Nice build thread, good luck!

I contacted BRS and they said Nyos put ths new ball valve on the systems and it was intentional.
They said it could be adjusted just fine as this ball valve was specially made for this and can be tuned very easy.

I cant find a solution to this as nobody has 32mm gate valves
That’s a standard metric size.
Look for Flow Color, that’s what I use myself.
They’re high quality.
I think Sanking produce them as well.

I mean, I’m not surprised this what they will tell their customers, it’s expected.
Generally Ball Valves are only recommended for on/off, and Diafragms and Gate valves are used to control flow.

Yeah I can't find any so I might just run it as is. I have a friend who has the same thing and he said it was not hard at all to get the flow correct.

It’s not that it’s impossible to use a ball valve, but they are far more sensitive and harder to adjust than with a gate valve.

If you are still looking for a high quality gate valve, you can find them at Amazon in the exact diameter needed:
Yeah I looked at those on Amazon and it has no buy button plus I will need to get 32mm coupler and 90deg and pipe

Did you look under “See all buying options”?
Looks like “Plumbing Industries” sells them.
Not sure why it doesn’t show up, but I’m also not a a regular Amazon shopper so.. so maybe it’s something obvious I’m not aware of.

As for the 90 - this one would be better for drain pipes, though you can also find regular one too:

32mm pipe, this should be enough:

Couplers - I’m honestly not sure where you would use them? Both the Gate valve and the 90 accept 32mm pipes and already act as a coupler.

heh I see.
As someone who lives outside the US, it’s kinda normal shipping times.

I tried to find something local for you, though it seems like they’re probably drop shipping it from China.

Oh well.. I’m sure that if you really want to upgrade it you’ll be able to find it locally, but it does seem odd that it isn’t widely available.

Another nero 5 or get 2 gyres of some sort to run on my Hydros wavemaker
run two Nero 5's on the back wall facing forward and then a single gyre up high on one side, assuming you're going primarily sps mixed or lps/softy id go one

Finished making a passthrough in the back of the stand and sealed it with some silicone and a gasket.
Mounted some led tape strips in the cabinet to so I can see when I am doing things and got my ato installed with the pump and skimmer controller mounted.
The rest of the electroncs have their own cabinet

So the electrician came to put a gfci outlet in aand looked at my uno 2.0 powerbricks and said I need a new breaker box at 7k$
This is the same room I ran my other tank in no prooblems and was larger. Something seems fishy with these guys!!! pun intended
The uno 2.0 power brick say 8.8Amp each and I am sure that is not what they run at..
I am at a loss as what to do
