Well, I guess it is time for a build thread from the Nordics
In the beginning of the year I decided that it is time to quit reefing, or to start over. The old custom shallow tank was almost 10 years old, with palythoas and GSP all over the place. The old tank had seen ups and downs from massive growth to normal summer bleeching events and failed "experiments". I also did not want to give my friends away, including two ocellaris (premium snowflake and domino), melanurus wrasse, yellow prawn goby which had paired with a serpent starfish and a maxima clam.
Since the only reasonable place in the apartment for a reef tank was a wardrobe recess, I was looking for Waterbox 90.3 to fill the void. Luckily, the customer service for European customers is pretty crap for that model (never knowing when the tank is actually available), so I decided to go for Nyos Opus 300 G2, ordered from a German online vendor. Unusual route for me, since I usually prefer to support LFS. The tank arrived nicely packed directly from Nyos, and was carried in the apartment with the help from a friend.
The dimensions of the new tank were pretty much perfect for the spot.
The first thing to do was to modify the sump to fit Smart Roller S from Reef Factory. Very easy using the Red Sea sump modification kit, just by removing one wall from the sedimentation chamber. The Smart Roller S fits nicely (at least the G2 version supplied with a ball valve), the only other modification needed is cutting the main drain a little bit shorter.
After getting most of the equipment in place, it was time to fill the tank. Most of the live rock was new rock (Aquaforest Rock aquascaped with Nyos cement + superglue) cycled since March using Dr. Tim's & Bio S with Aquaforest Live Sand.
To be continued...
