28 gauge wire, 12 wraps, variable capacitor. Powered antennas will actually kill an AM signal. Work great for FM though.

I just looked, only place I can find one that's reliable enough to tune by hand is in Thailand on ebay.

You're looking for a variable capacitor that can go from close to zero to 450pf.

From there you wrap your wire around a suitable frame 2-3 feet around. but if you want a table mounted one, embroidery frames are cheap and dirty, and provide a good substrate, 8-14 windings should pick up AM from Chicago well, assuming The Score and WGN still broadcast at the same wattage they used to. There is no physical connection, it's an inductance amplifier.

25$ mo , 149 yr, but that is MLB , cannot pay for 670 /720/ 780 to reach here...

Hope everyone had an awesome day...had some family time watched black adam with the boys. Me and my daughter had a few bites of cheescake and some pizza for everyone. Was a pretty good night reef is doing ok having some issue with the monster. Acros so far so good. Going to do a 15% wc on friday and going to have to frag a few more heads off the hammer colony that are getting shaded pretty heavy.... all in all not bad but paranoid for sure after the recent issues prior to cipro so keeping a good eye on everything going on...
