You've technically welded plastic to metal, or adhered them? Can metal and plastic molecularly bond or actually be effectively joined by melting together or does it require a bonding agent or adhesive?

As an engineer, these terms have technical definitions for me (though I cannot claim perfect memory or experience in the definitions), and I would be very interested to learn of methods that actually bond plastic and metal similar to welding metal to metal.

I wouldn’t go as much as saying fusing it together more of a metal inlay and bridge welded over with plastic.. I use so many materials in my line of work we’ve had to come up with very creative ways of doing things.. there is plenty of 2 part epoxy’s that adhere plastic to metal and is super strong.. but actually welding a piece of plastic to metal with a tig or plastic welder butted up etc will hold to a extent but not be structurally sound if that makes sense.. fwiw there’s many definitions of welding also.. like acrylic with solvent welding vs gluing etc. cold welding yada yada..
