But I know nothing on plumbing and I'm too proud to ask. We don't really talk anymore.

Meaning not directly touching tank? I planned on an inch distance from tank to return plumbing, is that sufficient or should increase? I have 3.5" of available room to drill with, because the the back horizontal 2x4.

I know! SO PRETTY!! Really watch out for big rocks though, they are falling constantly. Hubs fixed a guy's car that ran over a grapefruit sized rock and it effectively totaled the car from underside damage.

Hole placement will be determined by size of return pipe 1
2 if you want ball valve , union, ball valve, near top of tank (and bottom of run), recommend, the union is your distance

No, you can drill a hole just under the running water level but above the "power off" level for a siphon break.

thats what im seeing is that they are very likely to fail even after just a couple months.
