Oh wow! I just started reading this thread and was only on page 4 but wanted to jump ahead and let you know that I’m loving reading about your adventure. I’m seeing a lot of myself in what you relate. I sit in front of my tank for hours, I’m a woman doing most of this on my own. I love seeing women in reefing. I love reading @JoJosReef reef builds also. Wish we all lived closer so we could give each other a hand.

I see by jumping ahead that you have got a fancy schmancy tank going up. I hope to be at that point in a year or so too.

Best,
Molly
Glad to have you! Yeah this "tank" started originally as a 20g long, then a 29g, then up to 75g (current) and the 'fancy schmancy' new one at 125g!

Is been a fun ride otherwise I wouldn't still be here. But I really have to attribute most of my success with my various coaches here on the forum. Absolutely essential to have a mentor or a collective to help with issues.

Saw this while looking, but thinking I'm going with the "refugium" version from Modular Marine. Simple with minimal baffles, yet still the bulkhead to sock situation.

Just thought I would share !!! I'm thinking of using the MM overflow box. It is pricey, but its gorrrrrgeous !!!
No problem, and thank you!

I really like all their offerings, I first saw the kit on ebay, but looked for a site of their own and now see all their other pretty things.

I know, right? They have listings on eBay too, which is where I originally found it, but this particular kit, that's the picture provided.

I'd be tempted to just get some acrylic and cut the baffles out on a table saw...

I know. Have saw even. But time, however, is never a-plenty.

Plus by the time I bought the acrylic, cut wrong, and buy some again I'll be at the 100$ it'll cost for them to cut it.

The only thing I'm pondering though, is the kit says for a 13" fixed water level, is that what I need? Does that leave enough room for the water from the back flow when the pump is off? How do I know what I need?

should be fine provided you don't siphon off an inch from up top. 55 gallon is 24" high? that is way more then I have and I am running two remote tanks and all their full drain lines.

More than enough, yes. See my answer on the Café.

The tank she's got is 2.5" in sump per 1" in DT

Ok, not much to report. Ordered the Modular Marine baffles. Bought blue filament. Same blue as the handles for the valves so anything I need to print will be matchy matchy. Currently printing with the blue now, just some small screw-in angle supports I'm going to use to make the sump not move at all. I figured with plumbing going into the sump I want to make sure I never nudge it anywhere.
