Hi all.. I am new to this wonderful hobby and I have a question.

My phosphate is .10 and my nitrates are slowly creeping up and is currently at 22.4.

I spoke to my local Fish Shop owners and he suggested that I should considering carbon dosing. He recommended "Liquid carbon source (LCS) from professional coral solutions".

The question I have is.. reading the instructions on the bottle, they suggest you dose the solution into your sump in a high flow area..I don't have a sump..yet.. can I dose the solutions straight into my DT?

Thanks in advance.

You say you don’t have a sump….
Does that also mean you don’t have a protein skimmer?

Anytime you are carbon dosing you should really have a skimmer running as well.

If you dose into a high flow area such as in front of a powerhead/gyre in your DT then you should be fine.

Any idea what the ingredients are for the carbon source?

It seems they have removed the page from their web site, but it previously said:

"Specifically formulated with several carbon sources, vitamins and amino acids to rapidly increase the bacteria population in marine aquariums."

Hi GlassMunky.

Yes, I do have a protein skimmer.

Very impressive. “Several” is certainly better than just one.
