Well it more luck than anything. It had already found a nook in the rock and when I moved tanks it stayed put.
Is that one of the TBS rocks? I found mine move less on those since they have excellent footholds.

Actually I think it’s a KP Aquatics rock. I have rock from them as well as TBS and Gulf Live. The Gulf Live has had the most coral hitchhikers and the TBS was littered with fanworms. KP has had the most mobile hitchers.

That's one? That is a Koji Wada pink Nepthea. Kinda drab in a blue heavy tank, but I run my whites pretty high, so the pink looks quite nice.

it’s absolutely gorgeous!

i have a small frag of a koji in my reef but i don’t think it’s happy. Minimum growth in 6 months. What are you parameters? Are you dosing anything in particular to make it happy?

I hope mine gets as beautiful as yours!

Nah, I only dose All For Reef just trying to stay over 7dKh. Otherwise I feed heavily for my 7 fish (soon to be 9). NO3 is detectable but just barely. PO4 tends to be 0.06-0.1. I do nothing but let the ocean rocks do their work. I don't run a skimmer. Filter floss that I rarely change out--it's usually a soggy brown mess when I change it. Think I'm running UV but can't remember if it is turned on.

Just loaded up in coral and fish. Feed the fish and let the fish feed the coral!

Explanation of my feeding system:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally happening! I am merging my office IM Nuvo 10g and home Fluval Evo 13.5g into a new Office IM Nuvo 40L AIO!
1676189632727.png
This was a long and hard decision. I waffled between the SR60, the SR80, the 112INT and even the SR120, because I dream of having tangs. And most recently with the massive sale on EXTs, I did an in depth cost/benefit analysis of the 40L EXT. In the end the 40L AIO and the 40L EXT were about the right size for my office and with a budget I could swallow. So why the AIO instead of the EXT? Well, the idea of having sump flexibility really appealed to me, but all things considered, I thought that the AIO had the better safety features with the emergency overflow and pumps within the same circular system--and safety is paramount to me keeping a tank in my office! One major spill, and it will be O-U-T out!
Space reserved for more build details:
  • Tank: Innovative Marine Nuvo 40L AIO
  • Stand: Innovative Marine black APS stand
  • Light: 3x Noopsyche K7 Mini
  • Pump: 2x MightyJet 538gph DC return pumps
  • Powerhead: Maxspect Jump 2K gyre pump
  • ATO: IM TI Hydrofill + 5g carboy
  • Skimmer: NuvoSkim mid-size skimmer
  • Filtration: IM Custom Caddy w/floss + carbon + phosguard if necssary; Intank floss holder
  • Heater/fans: IM Helio 200W titanium heater/controller as primary wih Finnex 300W titanium element + USB fans connected via Inkbird as failsafe
  • Rocks: 40lb old school rock from Fiji and Marshall Islands (pics below, this stuff is super light and porous, not heavy solid bricks!) seeded with rock rubble from Tampa Bay Saltwater (from my IM 10g AIO chambers) + all of the TBS rocks in my Office IM Nuvo 10g
  • Sand: Aragonite special grade + seeded with Fiji Mud
  • Automation: Reef Factory dosing pump for All-For-Reef; Mini fridge + Reef Factory dosing pumps for Reef Nutrition liquid food
  • RODI system: RODI buddy
  • Salt: Fritz blue box
More details to follow
For now, here is the visual representation of my buid plan:
1679986999497.png
It will include a mini fridge with dosing pumps for automatic Reef Nutrition liquid food feeding (no more weekend fasting for my fishies/inverts). Will continue with dosing AFR. I opted against an AWC system since there is too much risk of overflow in an office setting. If there is a failure in the ATO, it should not be enough to overflow the tank, but if it does, then the overflow will first go into a galvanized steel pan under the tank, which should hold 4 gallons before spilling onto the office carpet.
And of course, my stocking plan:
I know, @TangerineSpeedo , so sad! They had a 5' 125g tank, stand, 4' sump and plumbing all for $500 up in Pasadena. Just wrote the checks to our contractor to finish our backyard and wife was looking at patio furniture. Was like
"Uh huh, $500? How much in total?"
"$500 includes everything! Tank, stand, sump!"
"Uh huh, how about lights? How much are the rocks going ro be?"
She knows too much...
Ho ho ho! Why so curious!?
Haha, I wonder if the person that got you saw all that, is snickering and watching what happens :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
I have a few unused carib sea rocks down stairs, and 5lb bag of Ocean Direct sand. Scrippts has all the salt water you need. There you go...
5ft tank.... 3 XR30's 2 AI blades... $4000 :thinking-face: "Yes, Honey... Just $500 total. A reefing buddy has some extra stuff he's not using. He even has some extra coral and a Blue tang that needs a new home."
