Ick battle

So my blue hippo tang had ick and all my fish have died (including the hippo tang) except for my yellow tang. I haven't seen any signs of ick and my question is how long do I wait to start adding fish back to my tank. Its been about 3 weeks since my last treatment.

If your tang is still in the main tank, it has ick (even though you see no signs of ick) as well as the tank. Your main tank should be fallow for 8-10 weeks before putting any fish in the main tank. You also need to quarentine the tang and any other fish you purchase.

If it's still in the main tank, these last few weeks mean nothing.

IME, ick is a result of either poor quality water, overcrowding or excessive harassment because of a tank bully...make sure you accounted for these before you add the fishes back and you feed them well.

"Ich" in marine fish is caused by a parasite, Cryptocaryon irritans. Poor water quality, overcrowding and harassment raise the level of stress in fish, which can cause an outbreak if (and only if) the parasite is introduced or present in the tank. Quarantine and good biosecurity can ensure crypto is never present in the display tank.

and in absence of a bullet proof quarantine, you can ensure a good water quality, less aggressive neighbors, good food..Garlic in food helps too.

Ich is in all out tanks just keep fish fed and not stressed and they will be fine.healthy fish fight it off with ease.People say go fallow for months and after they do there fish get ich again as soon as they put them back in the tank.ich is no big deal at all def nothing to stress over.only time fish die from ich is when there really stressed or have other health problems.Way to many people stress about ich and buy all kinds of meds and hospital tanks to try and cure it but all there doing is making it worse by stressing the fish more.Many will disagree with what iv said but it's from personal experience and being around people with the experience.
